Heads up! Dr Who starts Saturday....

Guessing this is why Torchwood has been moved to Fridays (so that the season finale of TW is the day before the season opening of DW)

Anyways 18:20 Saturday BBC1, enjoy...
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State

I prefer Christopher Eccleston too

David Tennant seems to do all this mockney gurning stuff that just makes me want to heave.

No.  You are not alone.  I think it's (excellent) kid's TV but I'm not a kid.

Well, I don't really get the "hawt" bit - but he was definitely one of the more believable characters in Heroes.
I think he's a fantastic actor, but he's also hawt, and he's a good Red.

My 2p...

David Tennant: Brilliant. Got the role down to a T, and delivers the one-liners splendidly - right from his first episode, where he tosses in a reference to that other great archetypal Englishman in Space, Arthur Dent.
Catherine Tate: not as tasty eye candy as Agyema Freeman, but was extremely funny in the 2006 Christmas Special  (Remember the "Pockets!!" line?).  So I'm prepared to with-hold judgement until tonight's episode.

Having said that, my favouritest line ever was when Rose Tyler asked Christopher Eccleston:
"If you're from another planet, how come you sound like you're from the North?"

"Lots of planets have a North."

Well?

Is it worth clogging up the Tinterweb to watch it again?

No, that was a pretty poor opening episode. Badly structured and lacked any genuine charm or bite. David Tennant just seemed like he was treading water. And Catherine Tate is truly abysmal... Chemistry? I have seen more in mouldy bread...  ;)

I think all you boys are interested in is seeing a pretty face, innit?  ;)

I'm sure if David Tennant wasn't so cute there would be fewer female fans too... but seriously, no, I just want someone who was a good actress* not someone who was chosen for a limp catchphrase (*or actor - it's been a while since we've had a male companion).

I'll definitely be watching DT and CT again.

Of course I will still be watching. It's still streets ahead of the evil days of Sylvester McCoy...  ;D

Without wanting to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen the first episode yet; I really really really really hope the appearance of you-know-who at the end means they're bringing you-know-who back later in the series... Catherine Tate makes my hair stand on end. In a bad way!

I dunno about Catherine Tate, she did irritate me a bit when she did the Christmas Special, so I didn't look forward to her becoming the new companion, but after that episode I'm warming to her.

As peli said, the mouthing through the window scene was great, typical Catherine Tate, but it worked really well.
Actually, it is rocket science.
