Marcus, is that the official route?
Cos the A67 is currently closed for a section between Darlington and Barnard Castle. The official detour is pretty well-marked and easy to follow, and only a mile or two longer than bashing along the A-road, but it does suffer a bit from having A-road traffic going at A-road speeds on windy country lanes.
As far as I can make out it is. I have A67->A66->B6280->A67
Worth feeding back to the org.
I reckon you have it right.
Does anyone have a contact for the organiser, so I can let him know? It's easy enough to divert around (for the record,
this shows the diversion), but the road is festooned with signs saying it's closed and that you only have access to Merrybent and High Connie, which some riders might worry about, and the road is closed even to pedestrian access, so you can't just sneak through.
If I'm around on the Saturday night, I might sit outside The Durham Ox and
shout abuse cheer you all by.
