I'm a DNS - got some right knee issues after banging it against a door frame, and then a table and then a very solid sink, all within a week or so - all on exactly the same spot resulting in me feeling sick for at least an hour each time - it's cos I have become very clumsy -  and this is probably not the ideal ride to help recovery...

Good luck everyone - may the weather gods smile on you despite the forecasts !!
I’ve decided I’m not old. I’m 25 .....plus shipping and handling.

(Ok so it's not quite the same as sacrificing youself in a futile war but the mood in the first minute strikes me  as a smidge like I am feeling)

Those instructions look right to me - after the RAB on the A67 it's a long descent through the awful bottleneck of Yarm town centre, over the Tees and up to the traffic lights by the Durham Ox. Then, as you say loads of roundabouts through to Darlo. There aren't any missing roundabouts.

Simon, are you hitting an earlier RAB, to the east of Yarm?

You're right - the instructions are correct. The OS map shows a roundabout but it is not a roundabout on google maps & street view so looks like that's out of date.

All packed and ready to go! New set of brake blocks all round!! Dinner-plate cassette fitted!!! Train from Euston at 14:30...

I'm staying in Clitheroe and will be there from 18:00, if anyone fancies meeting up for some grub and a beer (the latter, solely to calm the nerves!!).  ::-)

Ortherwise, see y'all at the start line tomorrow morning!!  ;D

Gadget (of AC Hackney) and myself are also on the 14:30 - see you there.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

I was going to go for a few pints at the start and then doss in the car, but given the weather I'll be staying at home and setting off about 4:00am (keeps the bike dry).  Bring the waterproofs :( .

I'm going to be around testing a camera for LEL, the idea is to use the motorbike, but we'll see about that.

Passing by The Euston Tap next to the station was too tempting to resist (40min hand to the train) - and came across 'Hardknott Azimuth' - seemed an appropriate sending off ale! ;-D
Met MarcusJB and Gadget at the station.
Now en-route on the train - amazing how packed this train is - not a free seat here - just about managed to get the bikes on with 4min to spare!! Well, Pendolino's are tiny inside!!! :-|

Anyone got a copy of stage 2 of marcus' gpxs? Bike Route Toaster is saying it's a private course.

Thanks for all your best wishes for this weekend's event.

The village hall shall be open from about 5am onwards Saturday morning for free breakfast. I'll be at the HQ setting-up tonight from about 8 - 9pm if anyone wants to pop-in and say hello. I'll be in the "Swan With Two Necks" for a drink after then if anyone wants to come. At Langwathby, the control is the village hall at the far end of the village. The route-sheet instructions are a bit basic but the control is a big white building that looks like a church. The outside light will be on and the control sign will be up. Damon will be at the start with his camera.

The village hall at Pendleton has been booked before 4pm on Sunday so we won't have use of it before then. If you finish before 4pm I'll probably be in the local pub (as I was last year - until gone 11pm)!

Finally, I wish all the entrants well and hope you enjoy the ride.

Apologies. Try again.

I added a warning course point to note the error simonp spotted.

I shall be heading gown to The Swan with Two Necks for dinner after I check into my pub B&B in Clitheroe - food and ale rated highly there 😋

Well,
The weather this evening in Clitheroe and Pendleton is something like straight out of a Merchant-Ivory film...
The calm before the storm, I suppose!!
I can vouch that The Swan with Two Necks is something really nice - local ales, and sunny terrace to sit on...
So, do cons and join if your in the locality!!! ;-D

I am at Burnley Travelodge and have forgotten to print a copy of the route sheet. If anyone would like to print a copy and bring to the start that would be helpful just in case my gps dies.

The clouds came in and if got a bit chilly outside - so, headed back to Clithore, dropped the bike in the room, stuff ready for the morning...
Now visiting the many strip joints here, lots of burlesque......

.....not really, just sampling The New Inn  11 ales on tap 😋
So, beers seem almost half the cost of London here :-)

I'll be back out again soon, having had a rest after filming the start and seeing what the results from a hired camera are. I'll be going up to Barnard Castle to see if I can track anyone down. This is some footage from the start.

Hopefully the weather will be kind. I'm in Caldbeck and it's a bit windy but starting to dry up :)
