Loved the Pendle so much, I'm spending a week in the Pennines revisiting some of the route via various perms and day trips (drove to Trough of Bowland for a picnic by a babbling brook, a read of a book and a sneaky snooze to recover between two 200s).  Will need to write an Arrivee article on it.

It really is rather grimpy up North.

I'm a little jealous!

There are some parts I would very much like to revisit, particularly the Trough of Bowland.

I won't be hurrying back to the Ripon->Robin Hood's Bay section though!  I've just about got over the worst of the nightmares.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

Oh. I'm tackling bits of that stage on Thursday on the North Yorks Moors 200.  It gives the option of sidestepping Rosedale Bank though, which I may take advantage of for the sake of my brakes.  I've done that perm before and remember it as being a good day out enlivened by hills...

The headwind hasn't abated by the way.  Simply changed direction.

PS: back at you.  I have LEL envy going on.  I'll be thinking of it more and more come the weekend.

That's why it's difficult to organise many Audaxes in the North West. The riding is on the doorstep and free. People also don't immediately think about Lancashire as a starting point. It would be a lot easier if the rail fares between London and Preston weren't extortionate. Andy does a sterling job.

The next edition of this event has been set for the weekend of 13-14 June 2015. The event has been categorized as a BRM and should act as a PBP qualifier, subject to confirmation of ACP's qualification criteria.

Ooooohhhhh.  Brilliant.

I'm not sure my balls are big enough to use that as my PBP qualifier - but I do fancy another trip around this magnificent ride (one of the best, if not the best, 600 around).

The bit to Robin Hood's Bay was still, by far, one of the most intense bits of cycling I have ever done.

I'd recommend this ride to anyone - but prepare well for it.  If you can ride the Pendle, then PBP will be a walk in the park.

I wish I could see myself being able to do this but just the thought of trying to cycle up some of the climbs on this ride makes me  :jurek:

Does the Swan with Two Necks go there? If so, I hope Simon will be providing directions to "the fit birds".

You have to be very drunk to think some middle aged guy sat eating a pizza in lycra on a Saturday evening is going to know the answer to this question.

AC Hackney's finest, and youngest, Jordan 'The Kid' Carroll was there last time to funnel those pissed-up Jordie (*sorry Peter, Geordie) females over to our table.  However, we were all way too scared to talk to any of them for fear of having our head-torches stuffed up our arses by one of their male counterparts (or them come to think of it?)

Ahh, but I do seem to remember one of them taking a fancy to Yossarian whilst he was standing sentry for our bikes by the cash-point! :-*

That kid was so pissed. He must have asked me about 5 times if I knew where the fit birds were.

He could not be convinced that I was not the one to ask.

He did look about 12.

Happy days.

This was the first and so far the only Audax event I have just failed at. I feel duty bound to commit to it, but not just now. I think I need lower gears. Campag now make a 12-30 cassette, with a 34 tooth ring should give me a good low gear.

It's true. I've been hoyed out of a Hexham pub.

Next time, I hear Andy's routing it through Cramlington and Prudhoe.

It felt like being in the Fens, but with Jordietm accents.

Pizza properly hit the spot.
