95, so managed to outlive most professional cyclists. Apparently the first Grand Triple Spotty Jersey winner.

I thought he'd been dead for decades!  Wasn't he a Coppi contemporary?

More Anqueteil adversary than Coppi I think. I've been planning on rereading his autobiography for a while so I'll do that this weekend I think.

He won the Tour the year before Coppi died, so not really contemporary.

It would never even have occurred to me, Cudzo!  Federico was a legend.  RIP

Indeed, it was some dirty tricks from Anquetil that saw Bahamontes lose the Tour within sniffing distance of Paris. Can’t remember which year that was but early 60s.

Federico's death doesn't even get mentioned on the BBC Sports News page dedicated to cycling, never mind the Sports Headlines.  Geoghan Hart's transfer to Lidl Trek does, so that's ok.  You'd think it might suit the science page under "Pro-cyclist lives to 95" -  but no.

You do know that as far as the BBC is concerned, cycling didn’t exist before 2012, right?
