Camping It Up / New forest campsites
« Last post by The Family Cyclist on Today at 03:47:41 pm »
My kids want to go to the new forest and see ponies and camp

Does anyone have any recommendations for any campsites down that way. Generally we like smaller sites with communal areas such as fire pits, second best would be sites with character. Generally we don't like big soulless fields with people pissed and blaring out music

Thanks

well my home town team Falkirk FC got over the finish line to complete the season as Invincibles.  (P36 W27 D9 L0).

The league had been won by the end of March but they kept it going with an injury hit squad finishing with three draws.

I believe its only the 6th time its ever happened in Scotland - the most recent being at the same level - a slightly anomalous unbeaten procession by The Rangers Football Club Ltd when they were making their way up the leagues as a tribute act to the original & liquidated Rangers Football Club plc.

Admittedly its "just" tier 3 but its our 5th season at that level so while we were undoubtedly one of the bigger fish its still an exceptional achievement.  Testament to the change to fan ownership (including some involvement and a modest sum from yours truly) in 2021 and the subsequent decisions / appointments made since then.  Its nice to no longer be a basket case club.

Back to more familiar surroundings in tier 2 next season - though I'll miss the "nice" away games like Stirling & Annan.   No idea where we'll finish but as a club with a bigger finances than most others at that level (and no real "big fish" a la Dundee Utd) we're budgeting on 5th place.  Secretly we're hoping to do an Ipswich.

Audax / Re: e-brevet ride missing from my rides results

I rode the IoW Randonnee yesterday. Out of 3000+ riders I think I was the only one using a brevet card  not the phone app to validate the controls....

I seemed to be the only rider not using the app but a paper brevet card. Not sure how the App worked when I logged into my entry email it just said "download your certificate here" even though I didn't go back up to the Wooton control at the finish having ridden up there in the morning...

Wet.  Soggy trousers.  Hates it.  Though the antique Gore-Tex jacket still seems to do its thing in spite of being unused for about fifteen years.

that's a joke of a consultation.  I've responded and went out my way to suggest bigger fines and greater enforcement.

(Yesterday) removed all the touring extras from my bike. It suddenly feels very light again!

Alas, my bikes have gone the opposite way, since the need to carry a spare battery & tools to remove the motor wheel means that on every ride over 50k it's carrying as much extra weight as for a 4-day Audax.  Last 120k I did, bike + luggage weighed 21 kg.

Should have been more than four, really. They were running Spurs ragged for much of the game.

But then I’ve seen them do the same in other games this season and fail to score any goals at all. Which is why they’re not winning the league.
