When even the Bad Days are Good

A great article in The Times today,  Boat that could save some sinking ships

“Everyone can do the good days, it is the bad days when you step away....  I wanted to sit on the start in Beijing knowing that I had come through a bad day. It was my principal source of energy through to the Olympics, that one session. That was a technique I used to manage self-doubt. In those last 20 strokes in the final, we had to have more than confidence. It had to be belief.”

Thats why its important to get out in the winter and early season when the days are cold and short. With a few good bad days behind you, you know you can tackle anything.

I sometimes particularly enjoy those rides which I may not have started, for a variety of reasons, but mainly because I didn't quite "feel up for it". On other occasions I feel terribly bad when I haven't had the energy to do that ride.

I was chatting to someone about this recently. I don't think I ever regret going out for a bike ride, even when I don't feel like it. But I do always regret not going out when I could have.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.
