Maybe when the linux version comes out, I'll take that as my hint to make the switch from Windows.

My God but the install is slow

I think we can blame that on about half of the users of the internet trying to download it.  Even Googles servers are probably going to be a bit strained by that! ;D
Actually, it is rocket science.

The slow download I can understand.  It's the post-download install...

Nothing too scary in the small print - I did scan it before installing.

It did make some mention of a unique identifier, though.

Cor, that *is* quick.  Though the 9-pane "most visited" and "recently bookmarked" might betray my non-work surfing ;)

Mind you, without AdBlock, it sucks.  Yay for the Firefox open plugin approach.

I seem to have gone back to 2002.  Lots of animated gifs everywhere.   I'll stick with Firefox until I work it out.

I'd imagine that with the entire browser open sourced, the interface for plugins will very rapidly be used, and things like Ad bloggers ought to be right up there at the top of the list of things people want.

You can't really complain too much that third party apps aren't available a couple of hours after the Beta version is first made available!
Actually, it is rocket science.

Ooh, just had an exciting multi-threaded incident. (I think?) Chrome was using 98% of the CPU so I had a look at the task manager (shift Esc) found the culprit (Photobucket) and closed it. HAH! Session saved!

It's certainly a hell of a lot quicker!

I normally blame the host end of things for slow page loading. But I see even Bikely loads extremely fast with Chrome.  :)

How secure is Chrome thought to be?

Well, I think there intent is that it will be very secure, the Wikipedia entry has a short discussion of some of the mechanisms they are using in an attempt to assure this.  Ultimately though, the open sourcing of it, and review of the code, will hopefully ensure that any security issues will be found and highlighted quickly.

This is only a Beta, so time will tell how well they've achieved this aim.

Don't like the lack of dropdown in the browser bar.  Yes, I know the home page is their method of navigation but it is slower than the drop down.

Also it has made me realise I have no idea what my yacf password is....

No Mac version yet :(

Would I be right in assuming that the reason it's so fast is if a sites server is slow, it'll load some from the google cache servers?

That's what the incognito tabs are for. ;)

If I've understood correctly, it's to do with the way it treats each site as a collection of separate processes - so eg the javascript element of a page runs as a separate process to the html. But I may well have misunderstood.

One thing I don't like is not having a "home" page - ironically, because I use igoogle as my home page in firefox, set up to show my email and calendar (I no longer use a separate email client).

Why do all the browsers claim that incognito functions are for planning surprise birthdays?

It's simple, clean, fast. It appears to be stable.
The Spartan look might not be for everyone, but I'm sure there'll be some chrome for Chrome along soon.

Strange, it was really fast for me once it was downloaded. It seemed to take just a couple of seconds to install. If you have AV software installed then that might be the culprit.

Because if they said "so the missus can't see you've been visiting bignbouncy.com and furryadventures.com"  - the truth - they'd get in trouble.
