Brooks (B1866) London closing down "sale"
« on: 28 February, 2019, 08:31:31 pm »
For my new audax community friends,

B1866 (or the store that no one knows is a Brooks store) in London is closing down on Sunday (no one figured out the name). The guys in the shop are ace. Was offered 25% off anything (they aren't supposed to do it they said). Had an impromptu shopping binge. If you see me on PBP, I'll be the one who looks like he's sponsored by Brooks.

I am the lucky owner of World Traveller saddle number 1866, plus Team Pro Alpe D'Huez special edition, both featuring on numerous Audax events. Also got the Brooks traditional bar bag, a gift from my bike shop owner when he closed down.

I popped in there on Saturday. They were actively clearing stuff out, but they didn’t say anything about discounts when I enquired about prices :-(

You must have caught your guy in a good mood.

And by 1645 on Saturday the shutters were shut, there was a Closed sign on the door, and though there were people inside they were packing the place up.

Oh what a shame. They put on fantastic events.

Well... I regret my purchases.  I should have realised this was a terribly designed product from the outset - I did actually in hindsight but hoped the £100 I paid for it would prove me wrong.  Waste.  I'll stick to their saddles from now on and avoid the cheap crap they hawk on the side.

You'd hope for something better for that sort of money, though that looks a simple repair.
