[HAMR] Women's 30 day record
« on: 01 August, 2015, 12:54:15 am »
Seen this posted elsewhere.
Janet Davison is going for the record for distance cycled in a month. Blog here: http://janet30daycycle.blogspot.co.uk/
And on Strava: https://www.strava.com/athletes/1170624

Interestingly, she is going for the Guinness world record. Seems this has more rules, eg collecting plenty of evidence, and no bike changes allowed, unless it is unridable.
Apparently there's no previous record, but she needs at least 5000km for it to count.

Well, she's had a good start - 135.7mi on Strava (216km) - would give her a run rate of 6700km for the month.

Not quite but HK does do multiple (and consecutive) 1000+km weeks through summer. 3000+km months are commonplace and 4000+km isn't particularly unusual.

Good luck to you Janet and may you reach those 5000k in the month.
Is it known the area she is doing this?

On finishing PBP one year Rocco had to ride home quick as he was doing a 12Hour time trial.
I believe he did around 1300 miles that week!

I'm sure I read somewhere that Teethgrinder did similar...

According to Strava 2945.3 miles so she will need 162 miles tomorrow to reach 5000km.  Let's hope the weather is good or she has the chance to do a one way trip with a tailwind.

From her blog, she finished last week. Its 30 days, which doesn't match the calendar month.
Total of 6455 km / 4010 miles.

I'm really pleased that she did it :)

I am also now looking at how I can have a go at this. There's obviously a lot of rules and I'm not the best with rules ;) Going to have a good read through and see when would be a good time to commit to a month off work.

It's exactly my sort of thing- back to back long miles but no need for any sort of sleep deprivation, night riding, bus shelters, crap food or dirty clothes.

I still get all my home comforts- win-win  ;D
