Nope - as one friend on Facebook pointed out, I need skinny jeans to be a real hipster!

(and mattc pointed out I should tuck my jeans in my sock, but he is from the countryside)
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

This man in the countryside (I assume this is what the countryside looks like - there's trees and shit) is not sporting a good look:

This urban-dweller is showing a better look (though he could do with some brakes):

They make you look like a tw@t?

The fixer dude's garb is OK - but you'd also look a tw@t wearing that in London; that chap commutes somewhere nice. It looks like Darling Harbour in fact which IS nice, but it's probably Docklands, which isn't .

Hmm. In the only images I could find of Tintin on a bicycle, he's either wearing shorts or Chinese pajama garb.

This morning's commute was further than usual. As I set off something felt a bit odd. I got 1/2 mile up the road before I realised I hadn't picked my bag up.

DOH!

I'm glad it says who it is at the bottom of that picture, I just saw it as a generic 1960's cycle racer.

Traffic much less and I misjudged the temperature this morning- got a bit warm! Still, not a bad ride in!

Which is odd, as Coppi barely scraped into the 60s.

It's not Herge's greatest (if it even is Herge) but it's not so terribly far off.

11 August 1960 is the date on the cover - so barely into the 60s!

Odd. I suppose it must have been a memorial issue - but why eight months later? Unless I'm misreading the date on the cover - it's not terribly clear, having another look it does look a bit like 1940 - but that doesn't look like it could have been produced in 1940 (and was Coppi even famous then?). Perhaps it's 1950...

He won the Giro in 1940, so reasonably well known ;D

But he's wearing the rainbow jersey, and he only won the World Championship once: 1953, so it is unlikely to be before that.

Tintin Magazine started in 1946 so it's not the Giro (in addition to him wearing the rainbow jersey) (and Herge was artistic director not drawing them all himself - so quite likely didn't draw that one). Someone on Pinterest has it as 1960

In fact lots of people have, but no one says why!

:) :D

I love this place.

1) Someone posts a picture of a comic/magazine cover
2) another person says it looks like a generic 1960's racer
3) discussion ensues about 1960s...

Great  :)

Well, that was a bit wet.

Not sure what to make of the three guys on hire bikes cycling northbound  in the southbound cycle lane on Westminster Bridge!
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

I picked up some minor bumps and scrapes (the bike is OK).

The edges of a repaired trench are failing here. The edge caught my front wheel had had me down. The following car offered assistance and also offerd to follow me lighting my way if I needed but I was fine- Exoposure is my friend.

Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex
