Cyclist's blessing?
« on: 17 May, 2019, 08:18:22 pm »
I was at a funeral this afternoon, or rather as I got there with only 15' to spare I was standing at the back of the marquee in front of the church, she was a very popular lady indeed.

The reason for my post is the Commendation and Blessing of which the first verse was:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

The second and third line made me think of tomorrow's 600  ;D

That's usually called the "Irish Blessing".
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

Not bad for a cyclist or a traveller of any sort. I could never make sense of the road rising, though. It sounds like going uphill?
What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

The second verse was:
Go forth into the world in peace;
be of good courage;
hold fast that which is good;
render to no one evil for evil;
strengthen the fainthearted;
support the weak;
help the afflicted;
honor everyone;
love and serve the Lord,
rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit;
and the blessing of God Almighty,
the Father, the + Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always. Amen.

Unfortunately I couldn't go to the wake for the champagne but now on bottle #3 🍾🍾🍾😊😳

I guess the idea is "may the road rise up to meet you" rather than you having to rise to meet the road?

Sounds good for cyclists and, well, everyone really.
