* Audax Epics based on weather must involve carrying bikes for at least 1km through knee deep snow.

That would be the two Georges' winter riding of the Daylight on a tandem trike.

Something to do with recumbents, I think. Nothing a normal, sensible cyclist ever need worry about. ;)
That's ok then, I was beginning to think I had missed something fundamental!
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

True Audax epics come from the likes of McNasty riding 400km+ with a snapped frame held together by zipties, or Arallsopp riding all but 10km of LEL with an idler return made from rapidly disintegrating zipties and bits of shoe, or Garry King snapping his handlebars in half on *that* nasty descent early on on the Upper Thames, shimming it with a coke-can and riding the rest of the ride without complaint.

Though Von Broad and I did request that we be allowed to precede Garry K down the hill...

Have you also been kept together by zip ties?

Just to iron out the ambiguity in case I have been misunderstood: this isn't one of the many criteria used by John to assess the quality of bus shelters (up to now); it's something that happened.

George Berwick predicted to be man of the match if he finishes.

Fingers cross'd.  That would be ace.

Gerorge has just made it as far as Linden according to the site.  Similar time as Iddu so it looks like they are still riding together.

He could do with the other George, to Shepherd him through this.

John finished at 1:30 this morning.

Looks like Chris Tracey has finished, but no time next to Richard Thomas yet.  Nor George B.

Richard Thomas finished a while ago.

George has finished.  :D.  A large crowd has gathered round to look at his bike.

McNASTY Completed 11.15

Just had a text from Valkyrie. "McNasty just finished, you wouldn't believe the state of his bike! Ridden for 500km with a broken frame"

I've asked for more details.

Valkyrie tried to send photos, but they didn't work. I guess we'll have wait till they return or a more technologically savvy member manages.

Seriously well done to all finishers. Epic achievement, even the ones who completed it with their frame in one piece.  I'm just staggered at the thought of what you've done.

Mind you, I've just tried to describe the event to my colleagues and I'm not quite as baffled as them - they're seriously confused as to why anyone would want to attempt something like this.  ;D

Richard is a very strong rider and cajoled us all into doing PBP in 80hrs in 2007 complete with a realistic schedule; but on his advice we all sensibly threw it out of the window on the day and just got round not caring about the time; he's probably thinking the same now.
I'm really pleased he's done it - although it was never really in doubt as AFAIK he has never been a non-show or packed.
He has always been supportive of my absurd over-ambitious plans and helpful with advice.
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

Audax Ecosse team in hotel catching up on well deserved sleep. A fantastic friendly  event. Superb organisation and we've been well looked after. Route was challenging - think 2 days of Mille Cymru after 460km then a 400 to finish. Throw in some monsoon rains and you have HBKH 2010. McNasty now a legend here. The broken frame was only one among many incidents he endured. I'll leave the telling of tall tales to others. Off to find more food.

Can we have a picture of him at the beginning, I'm not convinced there'd be much difference.
