Can we have a picture of him at the beginning, I'm not convinced there'd be much difference.

Well done to all

Tag 6 (aus und vorbei) | Audax Club Schleswig Holstein von 2000 e.V. has that photo along with the text:-

Rough translation (based on google but cleaned up by me):-

"The biggest stir, however, was caused by George, who arrived just before Willy. We are happy to say that he succeeded despite a broken down-tube. This was not a crack, it was a black hole in a load-bearing part of the bike's geometry."
"Yes please" said Squirrel "biscuits are our favourite things."

Brilliant - another example of poetic mis-translation.

Or perhaps they are alluding to the 12thC germanic curse:
"May you find a black hole in a load-bearing part of your bike's geometry"

It's not a mis-translation, the original German is "schwarzes Loch" which is the right astronomical term for a black-hole.

I don't know anywhere near enough German to know whether it's a common idiomatic phrase...

Sorry, I wasn't criticising your translation skills.

I just meant that the result was a phrase an Englishman (e.g.) would never have come out with - and it is a thing of beauty!

"A black hole in geometry" :applause:

Or:

;)

Chapeau Mr McNasty.

Hi to all crazy fanatics of hbkh,

here you can find some other pictures some of us made during hbkh: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39865348@N06/sets/72157624637388699/

some notes to the photos:

PJ had to choose another road, because the scottish whiskey in his baggage weighted more than 3.5 tons.

The pipers played for pingu so that he wouldn´t feel too homesick.

Seems like all cyclists enjoyed the trip under the rain.

some notes to your comments:

Hi Mrs pingu, hope to see you too soon.

hi mattc: is it on purpose that "paddle up" sounds like pedal up!?

Hi Exit stage left: George looked better before because he was quite excited at the start. when he finished he was quite sad that it was already over. By the way: We Germans try to improve understanding his accent...

Weather: This time the weather was a salute to the Scotts. Next time we will salute the Italians so there will be sunshine.

That is cos it is a black hole, and you can't see black holes..

Edit: No doubt the ex astrophysicists in our group who used to work on black holes will correct me..
