When doing a DIY 150km ride, does that get 1.5 points or 1 point?

Zero points. Rides below 200 km have to be BPs, and they don’t qualify for points.

(You can still get AAA points, though perhaps not in your part of the world)

Oh yes. My bad. I'd forgotten that one...

Thanks

No point doing a 150?  May as well do a 161  ;)

Actually a point for a 150km wouldn't be a bad idea...

You could get 1 point for the fixed wheel challenge. It is 1 point per complete 100km.

Counts towards some of the Brevet series awards, too.

I did an 165 a few weeks ago - didn't bother registering it as a DIY.

Also worth 1 FWC point if you do it fixed.

Arse. I double checked too and still missed it. Guess I must have been mentally scanning for FWC and not the word 'fixed'.

No excuse though!

Absolutely no reason why there could not be a "Most Popular" rider award. Would be worth having just for the name of the award!

That's a good idea, at this time of year it could just about be done in daylight.
Onward from that, doing it twice in a month could be an alternative way to maintain an RRTY.

Something for the legislators to ponder maybe.

I think 1 point for a 100km ride across the board would be a welcome addition; anything to encourage participation all year around.  Certainly would boost the coffers.

I disagree. 100km is too easy. I will typically do this on the weekly club ride. Making the 5000 randonneur trivial.

I think 1 point for an imperial century recognises what is a tough ride but would not be abused in terms if chasing points, as it would be more efficient to push on to 200km

I also disagree. Judging by numbers who attend the ACME winter series, there is no shortage of people wanting to ride 100km events in the winter months. We had nearly 100 riders last Saturday. Those who are points-minded ECE the events.

I think the minimum distance of 200km for rides contributing to randonneur awards is about right.

I like this idea:-

* 1pt for at least 150km (or 160km, but not 100km) - which means points chasers would be incentivised to continue to 200km

I'd add another possibility:-

* Capping the number of points from 100s at a certain figure (i.e. 5 or 20 or something else)

Both of which would seem to address the biggest worry about awarding 1 point to a 100km ride which is that the points championship could be won by someone riding lots of 100km events rather than by the person riding the most randonees (200km and longer).

I would have been tempted to part with £4 to register my 161+ as a DIY 150 if it had attracted a point...*

Winter 150km as hard as/on a par with, a summer 200km?

*edit.  perhaps I should engage more with personal brevet award challenges...

When I realised that the distance was under the 200, i figured I'd do it as a DIY anyway, as it will count towards Brevet awards. I've also thrown 4 quid at a DIY 50 the following day for much the same reason.

Given its Xmas day, in central Germany, and I need to get to a Hotel before their check in closes, I didn't fancy finding an extra 20km to make it a 200...

Actually, given the 50 as well, and my plan to do an SR, would just need to add a 100 to the plan...  Haven't got any 1000's planned, everything over 600 is a race...
