There is a theory about audax events and the weather which broadly equates to

Quality of weather on an event = 1 / Volume of chat on YACF about the weather on said event.

Where infinity = great weather and 0 = pish weather.

Shhhhhhh!

Sorry you cant make it Eck, I was looking forward to a "pech off" on the Rigg.  Hope your not flying to the Buddy Holly gig.

Given winds are forecast at 15mph+ all day tomorrow, I am going to wimp out.

Apologies.

I have a bit of a cold and was out yesterday in the wind and it was unpleasant for 70k let alone 200.

I am also in 'Team Wimp' - will get app in for Guy Fawkes today instead.
Keep on keeping on.

Decided not to go  as my knee was really sore yesterday and physio today advised against it. Good luck to those who do ride.87

You don't like wind.  You don't like hills.  Sounds like you're kind of screwed for Scottish Audax then ;D

Nevertheless, before you posted I was going to say that I could no longer make this ride because I've been advised by my homeopathist that I have a bad case of cycling so have been prescribed a does of cycling so very small, really, really tiny,  that it amounts to not cycling at all.

Dunno about you lot, but nutter of the weekend award must go to non-yacfer and Snow Roads ancien Simon.

I just posted in Rides & Touring that otherdave and I caught up with him on the Moulin Moors road to Pitlochry. He was half way into a DIY 300. He'd left home in Stirling at 4am, had been out to St Andrews and, after we left him at Pitlochry, he was heading out to Bridge of Balgay, Killin and home.  :o

Saltire 200, eh? Think you're hard?   :-X

It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

i didn't attempt the saltire but i did head up to Gifford and the Rigg and it was pretty wet and windy. By the time i was riding back into Leith via Portobello (12ish) the sun was out, the rain had stopped and the wind had died right down.

I didn't ride the Saltire but rode 25k to collect the car from South Queensferry. Today spent two hours cutting some of our grass and then an hour doing my new knee excercises. There is still  a whole week left! Hope my heated gloves arrive very soon.

I didnt attempt the Saltire but spent saturday painting a fence.

I spent Sunday painting a living room and thinking what a nice day it was for a bike ride.

Went out this am for 70km. Over Cleish Hills and found myself on nature's turbo trainer. The wheels were going round but the ice stopped me going forward. Glad I was going up not down.

Twas a bit cold but very sunny and was a nice ride. However, I spent the first 40 mins coughing and sniffing - not sure I'd have got round 200k on Saturday.

I drove round some of the Saltire route yesterday on the way to visiting friends and it was pretty wet and gloomy over the Lammermuirs.  I went out for a 30 miler today and it was nice and bright but there was a chilly northerly.

Aye the pair of you were spotted in Kirrie taking the Glenisla Road, gave you a shout
but the speed of sound wasn't fast enough to catch up with you  :)
Nice day for the Moulin though, staying closer to home us Angus CCers headed up Prosen and Clova enjoying a bonnie and blustery run.
