Went on a circumnavigation of the Ochils today and found the road fully open at Bein inn. Damage is confined to the fence and  a few inches of missing road edge; so should be fine for the event.
Does anyone else think that on a frosty day the descent of Glenfarg must be one of the coldest in the known universe :o

Went up Glenfarg just before you on Sunday YLG and was thinking this is what Austrailia floods must be like.
High racer Recumbents are the answer for the floods.
Good effort in that wind , my average speed was lowest ever for a 200.

35 entries and counting - excellent and will ensure that the finest catering will be provided.  At one stage it was "cup a soup with a twist".   :P  Below are some photies from Sunday's organisers ride -

Road signs in Glenfarg looking like the are about to go swimming -

Snow and flooding at the Bein Inn

If you look carefully enough the blue flashing lights of the fire engine can be seen in the distance

A new river in Glenfarg

Our shiny new control venue at St Davids (finger crossed!)

Paid too much for a gilet or baselayer?  Help is at hand.......

Heaven is  place on earth (theres some weird guy in dayglo lycra in the reflection).  ;)

thats good dave, you'll be flying over Comrie Moor no problem Im sure.

No line entries in fact no entries after 30 jan - makes brevet card and bridie orders too difficult.

Looks like you've got some work to do, getting those roads cleared for us

I really hope there is no ice on the roads - I don't do ice.  :(

I'm not sure if I've missed this already but whereabouts in our fair capital are we starting this wee jaunt?
Weather forecast for the weekend?
It's character building verging on epic.

Kirk Loan Hall, Kirk Loan, Corstorphine just off St Johns Road (next door to Winstons if you know Edinburgh better by its pubs).

If I get my act together routesheets and other info will be posted/e-mailed/uploaded to the auk website  tonight.  Over 50 entries so far.

I'd delayed sending the bumph out as I've been waiting on confirmation of how much ££££ it was going to cost us to use St David's Village Hall.  Im delighted to confirm that these tense negotiations have reached a satisfactory conclusion and we'll be on the inside rather than in the car park.

Wow 50 of the Legandary Steak Bridies for the contract caterers is a big order at St Davids.
Think I will be  last on the road and if the order is wrong I can scoff the surplus.

Although the route is linked from the calendar entry, I like to make my own GPX based on the routesheet, to check they reconcile in my head!

If this is of use to anyone, you can download it here. (Upload to bikeroutetoaster if you just want to view).

No guarantees this isn't completely wrong, of course, but it does go to Comrie and is 200km

Thanks for that EF

I did my first non-commute ride of the year today & I'm starting to regret using the phrase "it's only a 200" in a conversation with Mrs P  :-[

Routesheets despatched today for those who sent me 2 SAEs

Some required some serious origami / sellotape so fingers crossed they get there.

Exactly 50 have entered.

Surely the words "surplus" & "bridies" are mutually exclusive

I will be acting as Assistant Caterer (2nd Class) at the 'Bridie Control'.
Rest assured, Mr jogler, that my presence there will ensure that "surplus bridies" is, and evermore shall be, an oxymoron.

50 folk for a start of February 200 - either the word about Comrie is getting out or these must be damn good bridies!

5 day forecast so far isn't looking very encouraging. Windy with heavy rain.

Must remember to pack my waterproof jacket.

I think the 2009 calendar ride was the first audax I had to do in stinky weather too (although I'm not sure, that and the Canny Man have blurred together a little). I seem to remember hanging on behind a rapidly retreating Bachetta while the rain pounded down...

I think that must have been the Canny Mans right enough. The Nippie Sweetie was when you and I finished first because we had ridden straight past Corrieri's where everyone else were holed up. I can't remember where the control was on that occasion but it wasn't Corrieri's.
