Eurovision 2011
« on: 12 May, 2011, 08:39:23 pm »
I just turned on the box (I wanted some background noise), and found that the Eurovision semi-final is being broadcast.

As ever it's a bit strange ...

So far I've seen Belgium with a technically impressive a capella arrangement, which I can't say I liked.

Slovakia had a couple of blonde hottie twins, which was nice eye candy.

Moldova was just downright weird, with a unicyclists, and pointed hats which made them look like some sort of strange garden gnomes. :-\
Actually, it is rocket science.

Oh no! Young Zoe was flicking channels, one of my pet hates. I said to her "If you change channel again it's staying on that channel until you go to bed", and guess what she did? And guess what channel she flicked to? How long do I have to put up with this utter carp?

It's the crapness that makes Eurovision a must see every year for me.

I'm not strictly speaking watching it on the TV, I've got it streamed onto the secondary monitor of my PC at work, so I can still work on the primary monitor (or post on YACF!)

I see Israel has Dana International singing again!
Actually, it is rocket science.

Lucky escape - Zoe is so bored with it she's decided to go to bed!

Oh Gods, Ireland had Jedward singing for them. I can't say that I've ever seen them singing before. I don't think I missed anything.

Oh Gods, Ireland had Jedward singing droning while the backing singers carried the song for them. I can't say that I've ever seen them singing before. I don't think I missed anything.

FTFY. ;)

I am very very disappointed that I can't watch this year's. I stupidly agreed to go to Northumbria for a birthday shindig without checking the dates - if I'd realised it was Eurovision weekend, I'd have said no. I could record it and watch it on Sunday, but that's no fun.

What's blue and can't sing?

I may or may not see the final, since I'll be recovering from the FNRttC. The chances are that even if I start watching it, I'll fall asleep part way through. I'm not sure it'll be exciting enough to keep me conscious!

I love watching the eurovision. The trick is to be a little drunk and make sarcastic comments about the acts while you are dressed as your favourite act from the past.

I can't actually find video of Moldova's performance yesterday, but http://www.youtube.com/v/1aNK0L3XiYw&rel=1 from earlier is quite close, but they had more space for weirdness yesterday!

Jedward is/are Ireland's attempt to ensure they don't win. They really can't afford to host it next time.
It was a day like any other in Ireland, only it wasn't raining
