I hope England isn't too much of a disappointment after all you've done.

Looking forward to seeing you soon, and hearing more traveller's tales...

I'll be there, Aidan. At the start, at least - not sure ICBA to ride 200 clicks.

Yay for Vishwal!  I note that removing wheels, chainset and even water bottle were considered unnecessary! ;D

So are you going to ask Dave to replace the stay now?

If I did get it fixed, I'd try and get Kev Winter to do it, him only being in Ferryhill. But I reckon I'll get a replacement.

To be fair to Vishwal, he did shift the mudguard before he started welding and wired it back to the chainstay bridge after.

On the Dirk Gently hypothesis of 'I may not have got where I wanted to go  but I certainly ended up where I needed to be' . . .

Was your frame giving out the impetus you needed -  or wanted - to make you come home? Or just a strange coincidence?

Hmmm...
VELOMANCER

Well that's the more blunt way of putting it but as usual he's dead right.

And I thought protective eyeware was essential when welding - silly me  ;D  Vishwal is clearly a genius - top man

He was brazing - not needed for that.

Finished the blog! It took a while for various reasons, not least cos I can be an idle sod at times.

Write that book.  If it spurs you on I'll pay for it now.  I also want a book out of crusty.

I hope to write a book one day so you can both buy mine.  That's fair isn't it?

Dean, it has been a fascinating blog; thanks for sharing it with us.  I'm glad you are back safely and posting regularly.

I'll see you around

(Can't help thinking there's a touch of bathos in your final picture of the rainbow over Yarm: it touches the ground at neither end, presumably because the footballers and WAGs got all the gold!
