WHO broke that man's neck? He didn't 'break his neck' in a fall or bike crash did he?

Neck manipulation is fraught with risk in older folk; bones are porous, ligaments and muscles weak and degenerative changes distort the normal anatomy.

This is not the first such case I have read about.
