Taking a stroll through our Posts of the Day.
It’s a lovely way to spend time.

Waiting for a shy bird to nibble at my seed.
It is simpler than it looks.

Waiting for some kitchen units to be delivered from the factory up north. They will arrive at 10pm. This is the third delivery we have had from this company (minimum £75 del charge) over a period of time and on each occasion it has been past 9:30pm. I can only assume that we are conveniently placed for the return run. Its a good job the units are half decent or I would be going elsewhere in future as this is the least satisfactory aspect of their package.

Watching the Chicago river flow by and pondering that greatest of life's mysteries, namely 'is it too early to get a beer?'

Units were delivered at 10:15pm which I feel is a tad unreasonable and a bit of a piss take tbh. (They are nice units tho')

Trying to buy a cheap, plain steel no-spill cat/dog bowl (a) with extra rubber bits cemented on, (b) suitable for use as guitar resonator, and (c) in France. You'd be surprised how hard it is.

Lots available from the Celestial Hemisphere, delivery at a month's remove. Right now it's feeling that that'd be faster than searching.

Sitting in the kitchen of the Scouts HQ - Pennine Division.

It's attached to my old school and used to be the de la Salle Christian Brothers' residence.*

Such is the guilt instilled in me so long ago I'm expecting to be told off for sitting on the kitchen counter top at any moment.

Cooking sausages for use in sausage sandwiches after more beer than recommended in a lovely pub beer garden. Shame the kitchen had closed.

And drinking another beer whilst cooking.

All is right in the world right now.

Killing time before going to the airport. Not enough time to do anything useful but enough to feel like I should be doing something.

Not really doing anything to speak of. Mulling over driving to a DIY shop ~25km away but can't really be bothered - nothing's urgent. Could do a bit on my CB guitar, I suppose...

Sat in a hotel in Manchester reading a book and watching a guy three tables away pitching to two guys who look realy disinterested.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Weathering the wave of anxiety and existential panic and trying to decide if tea or coffee would be the better cure.
For every complex problem in the world, there is a simple and easily understood solution that’s wrong.

Beer solved both my conundrums above. It also helped with the wait at the airport.

(While I don't normally like Hiltons, I will say the lobby bar in the Palmer House is impressive. Which it should be considering how much they charged me for a beer.)

Same but railway.  5 joyful hours of ECML to Edinburgh today.

Just need to file an incident report, water the plants and perhaps have a coffee before then.

Well I was getting progressively drunker and listening to happy music. But I've been clicking random songs next off Youtube and it's trending sadder.

Along with a bit of Facebook pottering and just stumbled across the still active page of a friend from Canada who died a few years ago.

I am definitely now sad.

And in an empty house.

Useful page, I'd go with his first point of getting used to the "access all areas" menu as your main point of reference.

My preference is to shoot in RAW+jpg fine  all the time, then you really don't have to worry about most of the myriad settings he gets into, you can always post-process the RAW as if you had the right setting from the start. The only thing I'd add is that you then need to have photo management that effectively copes with having a RAW+sidecar file, my preference through long term usage is Adobe Lightroom (NOT the "cloud" version) but that has a cost attached, especially as I don't think you can buy a one off license any more (but I may be wrong). There are likely other options, too.
