I thought I'd start this camping specific thread to announce I've just bought a Eurohike Tay (http://www.blacks.co.uk/product/094184.html) two man tent from Blacks for £20.
At that price it seemed churlish not to.
-
Named after a famous bridge? How well does it stand up in a storm...
-
Hopefully it will not have to as I bought it with a view to using it as a car camping summer base camp tent. I think its named after the river as there is also a Tamar.
-
Is that £20 inc P&P :-\
Thats a good price if it is :)
-
I ordered mine from my local Blacks. I was perusing the tents as you do and noticed the reduced sticker on the display...

Rolls-Royce made the Spey, the Avon, the Exe, the Clyde, the Dart, the Soar, the Trent, the Welland and even the bloody Nene*, but they wisely avoided the Tay.
Oh, hang on...

Silly buggers.
*pronounced "Nenn" in Northampton and "Neen" in Peterborough, for no apparent reason
-
Glad you corrected yourself.
They also did the Tyne, Derwent, Clyde, Trent (they did it twice ;) ), Conway, and Tweed (briefly, I think. Not sure if that made it to production). There may have been others.
-
Tweed gives off the wrong impression, like a sort of Rapha aeroplane.

That's incredible! Where's my nearst Blacks...
However, the last time I slept in a £20 tent (the amazing Argos one-man thing) I was wracked with guilt wondering about the poor far-Eastern wage slave who'd stitched this wonderful thing together for a few pennies. :-[
-
I know what you mean Roger. I think there's also a reason they did all the other local rivers, but not the Dove or the Erewash ;D

First line of the product info says
Named after a striking freshwater loch in the central Scottish Highlands
Though I don't suppose most people read past the price tag.

Back OT, that's exactly the tent we were tempted to buy in a very wet Nottingham for £50 in the summer when our tents seemed like they'd never dry :-\

Whoop whoop :D

Here this morning, thanks for the 'tip off' Manotea
-
Jeez, that's pretty much a disposable tent at that price...

That's a great bargain !
Same layout as the Vango 200+ Spirit I have been covetting for a while and £130 cheaper.
It is however 2kg heavier so not suitable for my needs.
Perfect for Car camping though

Well, 1.5kg heavier but lets not quibble; a 4.3kg tent has no place on the back of a solo riders bike! It will be interesting to see where the excess weight is.

Google-search-powered thread necromancy!
Possibly only of interest to our Leftpondian contingent, but Nozama USA is apparently flogging the Light My Fire titanium spork for less than $8 including shipping:

Millets are currently selling their Nikwax reproofing stuff for £6.87 for 2 bottles (wash & wax). That's half price.
