:)

I now have a shiny RED one of those which turned up from Japan this morning.

I have been scouring the house for pencils that need sharpening ever since.

ETA: bought through Amazon from "Deputi Japan", cost: £16.48 inc delivery.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

These pencils are currently in Bristol Central Library.

Here's a link in English!

They are Faber-Castell 9000 in various grades.

Pentel P20n mechanical pencils

When I did engineering drawing A level, I had a pair: 0.3 with a 3h lead for drawing near invisible construction lines or cutting through the paper and a 0.7 with a 2B lead to produce the final drawing. No sharpening of leads with sandpaper to get a fine point and a more ergonomic shape to grip.
Currently have a Pentel P205 (0.5 mm) for general use.

I do miss the smell of freshly sharpened cedar pencil though.

One of Mrs Dan's pencils...

Built in magnets for holding onto a music stand, at least a B for visible writing that doesn't break the paper.

I think you'll find it's a Senior Vice-President for Graphite-Based Glyph Implementation Solutions Technology Maintenance.  At the very least.

For those seeking a 'quick fix' the new series of 'Great British Railway Journeys' includes a visit to a Lake District pencil manufacturer, I'm sorry, I missed the name . . .

Should be available on i-player very shortly.

I was watching too.  :) Michael Portillo visited the Derwent Cumberland Pencil Co. factory and museum in Keswick.

I still have my Cumberland clutch pencil from a visit to the museum in about 1988.
