Have I got news for you?
« on: 02 May, 2008, 05:41:06 pm »
A friend has just come to my door and given 4 tickets for the recording of HIGNFY on 15th May.   ;D ;D ;D

I may not need all 4 tickets!  ;)

Well, Fatters, I'd be quite happy to find a home for one if you need some help in so doing. :D

What propitiatory volume of Stella would guarantee your not sending me a ticket?

I went to a recording of HIGNFY with Charlotte and the Pikes a while back. I'd advise you not to fill your bladder too much while queuing (long queues) to take your seat; the loos are pretty hidden, and once you're in, you can't nip out.

I'll say hello if I haven't gone home before the queueing begins.

Well it would have done if we had got there in time.

We joined the enormous queue at about 6.35, having had to walk from Lpoo St because the Circle Line was buggered. I didn't realise how slow I have become at walking, as Jan & Denis were leaving me behind and waiting at every junction. Everything started to shuffle forward slowly around 6.45, but we ground to  a halt around 7 pm and at about 7.20 we were told that we wouldn't get in. The only highlight was watching Melvin Barg poncing around waiting for a taxi.

At that point Plan B came into operation and we went to Gourmet Pizza for what I think passed as a gourmet pizza and then some rather good beer in two or three pubs on the South Bank. We got into a train home about 10.45 and I slept soundly to Prittlewell, and here I am.

Fatters' mate Mr. Grant will be receiving some reserved tickets for next week's show.

So you had tickets but had to queue and still didn't get in? Do they give out more tickets than the number of seats so that they are always full?

I would imagine that they do. Free tickets you see. I wonder if they get smaller audiences when the weather is bad?

Trouble is, if it is free there's no compulsion for them to go. I'll bet if you only gave out tickets for the number of seats available, you'd have houses 50% to 75% full.

It is simpler than it looks.

I've got to see if it's on iPlayer.  I only caught the second half of the show - and loved it.  Really laughed out loud.  Many of the recent shows have lost their edge and are pretty stale.

edit: BBC iPlayer - Have I Got News for You: Series 37: Episode 4 got to wait until after Tuesday's repeat.
