Broody chicken

One of my chickens has gone broody.

Any suggestions? Most things I have seen suggest removing her to a separate coop and giving her some eggs to hatch. The only problem wiht that is that I do not have a separate coop.

Our bantam gets broody quite often. I just make sure I collect all the eggs so she doesn't have anything to sit on then she seems to get over it. Leave any eggs in the coup and she wont move off them even for her favourite food.

Get a box big enough to put the chicken in but entirely dark

Put the chicken in the box, with no eggs and no food- only water
This time of year ensure that the box isn't too hot

Leave it there for a couple of days

It won't be broody then

We had a broody chicken last year. We tried the usual methods but nothing worked. After thoroughly disinfecting the chook house the problem went away. We put it down to a "change in environment".
