Whichever David Bowie album I'm into just now. (It changes regularly)

Changes is a song, not an album.  :P

I have two recommendations:

The first, because it's in my mind from celebrating its 40th anniversary last week: The The - Soul Mining

The second as an antidote to all the inevitable grandad selections here, not much more than a year old but an instant classic: black midi - hellfire. An absolutely astonishing album.

This will probably turn into a "my list is more obscure/seminal than yours" contest.  Mine is fairly mainstream except one  ;D

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Furniture - The Wrong People
Green Day - American Idiot
Nirvana - Nevermind*

*I'm going to admit I haven't listened to it for years but it is certainly a "must listen".

I'm afraid all current music is ruined for me by autotune, whatever other merits it may have.  Whiny attenuated vocals actually hurt my ears.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

Another fairly mainstream classic rock, but including a relatively recent band:

Boston -Boston
Roxy Music - Viva
Supertramp - Even in the Quietest Moments
Rolling Stones - Some Girls
Mallory Knox - Asymmetry
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Remain in Light - Talking Heads
Tapestry - Carol King
Apostrophe - Frank Zappa (First album I ever bought)
Six Wheels on My Wagon - Fluke
No Protection - Mad Professor - a dub version of Massive Attack's Protection (I used to live in the house that previously was Mad Professor's recording studio - we'd get people dropping demo tapes in through the letterbox years after he'd moved out.)

Strictly Personal - Captain Beefheart

There’s always the danger when recommending the Captain that someone will try him, be totally appalled and not speak to you for the next thirty years.  This is (one reason) why I didn’t include “Trout Mask Replica” on my list.

Nirvana Nevermind Kurt didn’t like you. Kurt didn’t like himself. But this is self-indulgent coruscating brilliance.

The The Infected. Angry and elated. The spirit of 1986.

Radiohead Pablo Honey. Doesn’t try as hard as OK Computer.

Peter Gabriel So. Can’t say I’d ordinarily listen to Peter Gabriel but this is a perfect album.

The Pixies Dolittle. No one knows what Frank and the gang were on about, least of all them, but this is a glorious noise.

There's no such thing as "must listen albums"...

Are people just listing (some of) their favourite albums, which is an entirely different thing.

Of course they are. But you can be the different one.

Blue ~ Joni Mitchell

Hell yeah
Heavens yes!

And we can segue from here into the demise of Islabikes, as they had (have?) a range aimed at grandad and grandma rockers consisting of three models: Joni, Janis and Jimi.
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.

Is the Joni a Little Green one and do the Janis and Jimi self-destruct at 27 kph?

(Real shame about all concerned, bikes and musicians)

I was at sixth form with Tanita Tikaram.  I didn't know her, but she used to roll her eyes at us when we were inventing or playing mindless games in free periods.
