What's your favourite biscuit?
« on: 08 January, 2009, 08:52:47 pm »
In the interests of something or other, I'll divide the question into categories.

Plain biscuit
Chocolate biscuit
Wrapped chocolate biscuit
Savoury biscuit

To preempt any argument, Jaffa Cakes are cakes, not biscuits.

Plain biscuit - lemon puff
Chocolate biscuit - plain chocolate digestive
Wrapped chocolate biscuit - fruit Club
Savoury biscuit - Hovis

Oh, caramel logs. They're probably joint favourite with fruit Clubs. Oh, for an hour alone in the Tunnocks factory.

Ginger nut
Chocolate hobob
TUNNOCK'S CARAMEL WAFER! ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!
Nairn's rough oatcake

But I'm a right biccy tart.  I don't think there's one I won't enjoy.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Plain biscuits - the Party Ring, every time.

Chocolate biscuit - McVities caramel digestives.  They make your teeth hurt just looking at them.

Wrapped chocolate biscuit - Clubs.

Savoury - Ritz biscuit, preferably with humous.

I forgot about jammy dodgers, can I put them in my list?  Much better if you pop them in whole and try not to chew.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Chocolate Leibniz, preferably the dark variety.

But there's Tim Tams as well, which are widely accepted by theologians as proof that God loves Australians more than anyone else.

Where do Hazelnut Boasters fit into your world-scheme Kirst - are they plain biscuits which happen to have chocolate chunks and hazelnuts in them, or are they chocolate biscuits with plain bits ?

And fruity or filled biscuits ? I have a passion for Date Mamouls in Abu Dhabi, which are a little round pyramid shaped biscuit, filled with a date mixture, and the nicest ones have little bits of pistachio in the mix.

Wrapped - Kit Kat - that's a biscuit isn't it ?

Savoury - close between rough oatcakes and Jacob's wholemeal crackers.

Delicious plain biscuit with chocolate bits in. Bourbons are plain biscuits too.

not sure if they are really my favourites but I have just filled a tin with 4 varieties of Boasters - Cranberry & Almond, Dark Chocolate & Ginger, Belgian Chocolate Chunk, Belgian Chocolate & Hazelnut.

Tin is on my desk protected by

with hand out holding a label saying "keep out".
