Next time I'm out that way, I'll take a photo to prove it, but over by Oswestry lies the village of Knockin.

Guess what the village store is called ?

Yes, The Knockin Shop.

Yes, The Knockin Shop.

I have been in there with Kim otp.

It's wellknown amongst the audax riders.

IIRC Kim has a photo of our bikes parked outside the Knockin Shop

Googling suggests that everyone in the world has taken a photo of it.

Blimey, you are not kidding.

Depends what sort of device you use them in...

From Twitter, not so much a bad business name, as an unfortunate strapline.

Another unfortunately-named product. I saw one in the wild on the 1991 PBP. And heard it - it squeaked horribly at the pivots.

For a brief moment I though the next door shop was selling used lambs.
It is simpler than it looks.

So, again, not a business, but a series of products.

Did no one ever say it out loud before publishing?

My new team uses a lot of this:

Presumably they never consulted any cockneys before choosing the name.

Closer to home, there was the Sachs Aris groupset, which, missing a trick, didn't include a saddle.

An organisation, to which I am close, created a mascot for a financial education programme called "Ned".  I asked, apropos of nothing, if they intended to use him in Scotland.

Ned is tragically no more.

Anyway, those forriners are immune from such concerns:

Our CEO recently sent out an email about our company's NEDs.  He was, of course, referring to Non-Executive Directors, but after spelling it out at the start, all other references were 'NED'.  Oh, how I chuckled.  The CEO is an easy-going, approachable guy, but I decided that I wouldn't mention the other use of 'ned' to him.
