HSBC - when my wife picked up an internet banking thingy, it might have been useful to ask if it was needed for personal or business use to save her the journey back to swap it tomorrow.
HSBC - why can't you have one internet banking thingy for both business and personal use?
HSBC - why can't business banking use the imaginary thingy (I think the term that youngsters use is "app") which would save my wife the trip in the first and second places.
HSBC - one letter asking for more information then one telling us to shut the account in 60 days isn't wonderful service
HSBC - not telling the secondary user that there is a load of information needed if you are not to imply we are money launderers, while letting all transactions be done by said secondary user, isn't wonderful service.
HSBC - not letting said secondary user tell you the information that you need if you are not to imply we are money launderers, isn't wonderful service.

Just been through this myself with HSBC, a right pain in the arse. If you have equities you also are now also required to provide proof of your nationality, apparently because the USA wants to receive more tax revenue from avoiders. They do not seem to have considered mobility or disability issues in any of their very officious communications which place the onus on you/the named person to do all the running around and sets out target dates. The perspective of the process is very much their internal one and not that of the customer. They are also using a third party company to verify data, NOT good practice. Not sure how this fits with the DPA/DDA.

The pavement thieves have struck again. They take about a dozen paving stones from the same street every couple of months.

Not really. 'York stone' flags are sought after.

Before I rented the shop it was derelict for a while. A Victorian wash house with stone floor in the cellar, it was removed by person or persons unknown.

I presume they are stolen by or for sale to builders, landscape architects, gardeners. Possibly some of them even end up split into smaller pieces as un-plates in trendy restaurants!

Maybe that's the solution?  Start paving things with all the unused plates.

Just gave a suspected cold caller a hard time then found out it was the missus's complementary pension provider. Was feeling mild remorse about it then discovered that the distant dame was not really who she said she was and was trying to sell the missus insurance we don't need.  Strike remorse, insert glee. :demon:

Hermes just charged me a tenner for an "oversize" box that has been delivered by them three times previously with no issues (I had a frame in it, returned it, the seller sent a replacement frame to me and then I used it again).  It's not really oversize in terms of volume but is not quite a perfect cuboid so the max length x girth is about 10cc over).  Moral - you cannot send bicycle frames by Hermes any more.

Freeview 231. It moved there from 130? about 3 months ago when you were supposed to have done a retune. Of course you're on a different transmitter to me so your numbers may vary.

On a related note why does my new Panasonic HDR insist it's found new channels almost every day and want a retune when the Samsung Tele is quite happy with the channels it's already got?

Ah.  Lt. Col. Larrington (retd.) is still getting it on 130.  Did the HD ones change as well?  I was getting it on 107 beforehand but when I got back it was saying "No signal".  The Humax recorder still does get it on 107 ???

107 is still News HD on the Winter Hill transmitter. 130 is no longer visible.

Cos it's a piece of shit.  We've got one.  Not only does it constantly witter about needing to retune on a weekly basis but it fails miserably when it tries to automatically retune.  And for good measure every now and again it'll crash for absolutely no bloody reason whatever - often just after retuning or as you're trying to set up a recording.  We will _not_ be buying another Panasonic HDR _or_ TV.  The TV is also a Panasonic and is likewise a piece of shit.

last few TVs we've had have all been Samsung.  No issue like that but we have had two diplays fail almost immediately and be replaced very quickly under warranty.  Would reccomend them.  BBC news does not appear to have moved though

Bristol City Council did have a reputation for relocating York stone pavers to the nicer bits of the city.

Arranged with El Prez to go for a toddle this morning. He just rang up: can't come, his missus has already prepared a meal for lunch.

Funny, that. Rochdale Council have been stealing flags and cobbles from all over the borough for 'heritage' reasons. Since 1974 . . .

That would have been under George 'Green Red Trousers' Ferguson, probably. Bristol, that is, not Rochdale... Anyway, this was definitely genuine thieves. Stealing the very roads from under our feet!
