[LEL17] A very British tradition.
« on: 23 July, 2017, 04:02:43 pm »
Dear all,
Now we had the various thread's on, am i fit enough, i forgotten to ride my bike, can i charge my lights etc at controls and finally will it rain, i feel its time for a thread on something to help.

Dogging,  yes the very British tradition of dogging!!!!  Hopefully people in the know will now tell us of places on or just off route were riders can take a break from the event and enjoy a bit of dogging.

I feel this could make everyone's ride a far more enjoyable experience,  especially those from overseas.

Yours. Just trying to be helpful.

Remember - Audax has a self-supporting ethos. No help from outsiders allowed.
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

I didn't know what dogging, was, so I asked Mr Google, and I got, from wikipedia:

"Dogging (sexual slang), a British English slang term for engaging in public sex while others watch"

Really?

It takes all sorts.

Mr Google might also know the phrase "Taking the piss"
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

Whilst nothing beats local knowledge there are apps you can download to your android phone, DAHIKT.

But why would you want to know where to walk your dog while riding LEL?

Will I need to pack yet another battery powered device for these nocturnal diversions?
The older you get, the better you get, unless you are a banana.

Possibly, after a long day in the saddle (unless it has a decent cut-out).

I thought we already had a thread about additional services (or is that servicing?) at controls.

We once used somebody's front garden somewhere near Peterborough for this purpose, while riding Aberystwyth-Yarmouth.  Would be plumb on the LEL route.
Fortunately it was before the days of auto security lighting being commonplace, but even so I was a bit concerned about her reflective ankle bands ...

Perhaps she shouldn't wave her ankles in the air then?

Somebody has outed themselves but there are other stories.

If any rider feels the need for some extra service, they can stop at one of the many facilities by the side of the road for a bit of cottaging.
