And great live coverage by the BBC via either the Red button or the internet.

Great race by the winner.

... a team whose owner said earlier this year that he'd reduce his salary if he could, due to underperformance.

Oh ye of little faith!

I bet he gets more prominence on the front of this week's Cycling Weekly than Lizzie Armistead.

You gotta love 'im.  ;D

Several tools short of a full kit though. "I did not have any energy left to win a sprint - so I attacked."

The coverage sucks if you've seen a few Grand Tours recently. Same every year, I don't expect much any more. A break forms and it can be 5 minutes before we find out who the 3 riders actually are. Shouldn't this stuff be easier once a year, on a multiple loop course, for the biggest race of the year? <see rants same time last year. and the one before ... >

Still, at least we had decent commentary on the Beeb this year; no Hugh Porter, and the guy with the dreadful monotone was doing the UCI highlights videos (which are otherwise very good!)

A brilliant win and I'm glad that his "biggest win of my career" wasn't in his trade team kit.  There's one in the eye for the team owner.

Care to make a small wager? (proceeds to Chilterns Air Ambulance - or whatever it's called!)

(And I won't comment on your spelling ;) )

mattc wins that round.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day...  ;)

It would have been absurd if Armitstead wasn't on the cover, of course.
