I know interest rate are low, but by what reasoning does First Direct reduce its “Savings” account interest from 0.15% to a staggeringly low 0.01%. Fuckers.

I think my Santander one went down to 0.005% which I suppose is their way of saying please take your money and fuck off. I think the concept of savings accounts is dead.

No channel-hopping on the tv in the foyer in a fruitless attempt to find somethijng worth watching (daytime tv )
No surfing the intarwebz looking for pictures of steam engines.

Bah, the supplier I ordered weedkiller from via a South American river themed webseller seems to have done a runner.  Pages and pages of feedback along the lines of 'marked as dispatched, not arrived & no response to queries'.  So many it took 5 minutes to scroll back 12 days to when I placed my order to see if I'm an idiot, not on this occasion it turns out not that this helps.  If ordering via that site avoid Chatfield DIY until their feedback shows they've sorted their shit out.

Ordered again from another seller, I have a hell of a lot of cleavers I need to nuke while spot treatment is still a viable option. And when I say a lot I am not kidding.  I'll be using one of these:

I'm sitting in the window of our attic room, waiting for the moon to rise over the trees on the hill opposite. All the while I've also been watching a bank of cloud slowly heading in that direction.  I know that even though we're pretty far west and it's got a hill to rise over, it must be pretty imminent.  But the leading edge of that cloud bank has just arrived at the tree I think it will rise behind.
Bastard. No cool camera shot tonight.  :(

Making cassoulet* last night.  Wash out the bean tin before putting it in the recycling.  Which genius thought lining those ring-pull tins with a toroidal razor blade was a good idea?  Bled in a torrent like unto the lies issuing from a The Prime Minister.  Now contemplating strapping left thumb to rest of hand with a cable tie left behind by the Thaumaturges who healed the shower at Fort Larrington the other week, on account of the abyss in my thumbflesh being right on the bendy bit.

When he was two or three, my son got his hand trapped in one of the old-style tins that we had opened, emptied, and then shoved the lid down into. When he put his hand in and tried to pull it out, the lid had cut into the base of his thumb, and the more he pulled the deeper it went.  To get his hand out again, we first had push it further in so that we could push the lid aside.  Try explaining that to a screaming toddler.

I still squash tins closed to this day.

Urgh! I always squash empty tins so they take up less space in the recycling/bin/whatever, but that's an additional, better, reason.

Have you got your electrons back yet?  Friend is suffering a protracted BT exchange failure, but I pointed out that at least he didn't have to have Hula Hoop salad for tea.  (Seriously, what a way to ruin Hula Hoops...)

Came back on this evening but is now off again. Good job the moon is nice and strong.
I can report that cheese and onion hula hoops are best with leaves. Salt and vinegar go well with tomatoes and red onion.

I'm in the queueue for the supermarket. This is fine, though suncream might have been a good idea. I could do without the running commentary from the person behind. I pity the person on the other end with the updates on every 2m step moved and how they use shot glasses for egg cups. And now you get to hear about it too :demon:

Just discovered that the 1000 x 500 x 22 sheet of ply I want to turn into a router table has a 3mm dish in the middle. :(
