Peculier Old 200 - 31/10/2020
« on: 16 September, 2020, 10:55:02 pm »

It's running again, with the usual 2020 caveats - reduced field, no van of delights at Appleton Wiske or cheery controller in Masham (you can still call at the pub if you want), and with a staggered start, but still with me to boot you off and welcome you back.

Entries here: https://audax.uk/event-details?eventId=8143&Evno=20-352

As usual, the history of the ride is here: https://audaxdarleaux.wordpress.com/2016/07/12/peculier-old-200/

Looking forward to seeing you if you decide to come along :)

Entry sent - here's hoping covid doesn't get in the way

The Van of Delights won't be there but the oven will have provided.

I might even ride on the day.

I've entered, hopefully the additional local lockdown restrictions will have eased by then.  From the limited information so far it's not clear if going on a bike ride with up to six people would be prohibited as 'socialising with another household' is not allowed.
Sunshine approaching from the South.

First time in 1,000 years.

Darlo and North Yorkshire aren't affected (yet), so only the County Durham section could be, but my reading of the govt guidelines is that organised sporting events are exempt. They don't come under "socialising".

(Feel free to insert your own joke about anti-social audaxers)

I’m expecting an evolution of the current position.

So it looks like even under Tier 3 we can ride around outside:)

Better do some training then.

Any updates Deano? Have you sorted the weather yet?

Sorry Mike, I just spotted this, and after his endless complaints I put my brother-in-law in charge of the weather, so please address all concerns to him.

Riders are just coming up to start, it's a fair morning, but the forecast has decimated the field.

Quick note to say thanks to Dean for organisation of yesterday’s Peculiar Old 200. Some were put off by the weather forecast, although it didn’t turn out as bad as we feared. A good ride, 3 Mikes finished together and the sections over the moors and through Barnard Castle went from ‘bracing’ to ‘character building’ - not that it was ever cold mind.
