Hospital records finally came through.

Seems first physio did me a disservice; she focused on the fluid and inflammation in bicep tendon and gave me one, repeat, one exercise to put gentle loading on shoulder. That was after an US where the radiographer stated

Quote
Appearances consistent with supraspinatus tendinosis and fluid around the biceps tendon. Features suggestive of adhesive capsulitis.
So, basically frozen shoulder.

If I'd been given the absolutely standard list of exercises for frozen shoulder, it probably would have completely recovered by now.

Because it has been neglected (I've not been forcing the range of movement), it will now be more difficult to treat.

urgh! that's shit.
how long ago was the injury? bear in mind my right foot injury was 2017 and physio started in 2021 for that when I discovered there was issues when I returned to rocky mountain tops, so it may be that the appropriate exercises work quickly to grt things moving again.

had my visit to the secondary care/real physio today.

gave me yet more exercises to do, this time all focused on my terrible balance

range of plantar and dorsi flexion roughly match now at least...

lunges
walking on a line
rolling feet heel to toe rsther than flat footing
and balance on a wobble cushion

oh and she noted that my right Calf is smaller than the left I know I have a left biased imbalance from basically everything but have never noticed by looking before.

May last year

US at end of May.
Saw Physio a week later. She seemed to have only read first sentence from the US report.

I've started on sets of the recommended exercises for frozen shoulder.

Felt great yesterday morning, after a day on the bike with no metformin. Nonetheless I took my 3x500g like a good little diabetic.  Result: I've felt like shit warmed up on a shovel since I got up this morning.

Happened again this morning: had a ride set up, had to cry off.  Old UAF chum says he's had the same effect for the last 50 years.  I've only had the stuff for 25 years so I suppose I'm winning.

Overdone it. Back to where I was a month ago. Shooting pain through shoulder now.

Aw shit, that's no fun. Sympathies.

---o0o---

Meanwhile, 3 days since my last ride and I'm waking up knackered in the morning (05:45 today). Dunno why: don't think it's metabolic any more and V1-V4 ECG is normal.  I'm hoping there's no sinister connection with my years of oesophageal reflux. I'm seeing the ENT specialist on Tuesday and then I'll have a few tense days waiting to hear if it's gute Nacht um 6 or not.

Most folk I know who’ve had cataract surgery have found it a fairly painless breeze, clearing their vision enormously, within a few days.
I wish you luck!

I take it you mean Wexham Hospital in Slough.......   if they are referring you to Wrexham they must be really short of local capacity!      Good luck anyway.

My mindset thinks Wexham PARK for Slough, while Wrecsam is a Welsh suburb of Chester...

The reason cataracts

I had both done just over a year ago.
Very pleased with the result - my distance vision is better than it ever has been, as the lenses they put in correct for my short sightedness.
So I only need glasses for close work really.
The thought of it is worse that the reality!
Actual op only takes a few minutes, its the eye drops and waiting beforehand that takes the time (about half a day).
Uncomfortable/stinging eyes for a day or two.  Just need to be careful for a few weeks then fine.

You won't have the only problem I haven't solved - that's putting on eye make up!

just done an online consultation at GP. I developed a small lesion on my lower eyelid which has been concerning.  5 minutes to log in, use NHS app credentials, upload details and a photograph and send it all off.  promised response within 30 hours.  We will see how they do.

I find phone cameras dreadful for photographing lumps, bumps, and swellings. Something that looks red and inflamed, or has visible blood vessels, just looks 'flesh' coloured in the photo.

I find that interesting, as when I take photos (particularly of the inflamed eczema on my hands) it tends to make redness and inflammation look worse.  Perhaps it's a phone brand/model thing..?

I find that interesting as photos are widely used by dermatology for follow up, etc

And a photo, based on my partner's current goings on, is the first step in triage.

My GP  or the practice pharmacist will normally prescribe on the basis of the photos of my hands.  I think they know I only ask for stuff when I need it.  It saves so much time and hassle for both sides.

Back from ENT: nothing sinister to report, just inflammation from acid reflux (and the espresso I drank in the hospital snack bar beforehand). Next hurdle the gastropod at the end of March.

Spotted in the radiology waiting room of a hospital this afternoon [X-ray for TMD].

Excellent service from GP.  They phoned me back within the 30 hour window (26 hours), had reviewed my information and the photograph and agreed that an urgent referral was appropriate. That was wednesday.

This morning I recieved a letter acknowedging the referral and giving a 4 day turn around for recieving an appointment.

Then this afternoon i recieved an email from the hospital via patientknowsbest (PKB) to say that my information had been updated, despite to my knowledge never previously enrolling!  Initial transfer was via NHS login which is fine but then it needs another password with no information on how to set one up or change it.  Very poor.
