There is now a map!

Hours of fun planning tours ahoy! ;)

I pass Darlaston Inn daily.
The one at Church Lawton is still there.
Those south of joglerville towards Lichfield  provide interest.

Barnet Cyclists had a presentation from two women who cycled from Ireland's End-to-End (Mizen Head to Malin Head) last Thursday.
They stayed at the Bantry Bay Hotel here http://goo.gl/maps/cR4gu and I spotted a Winged Wheel on their photo...

Stopped at the side of the road for a quick call of nature somewhere in southern Scotland while riding LEL. Looked up and saw this...

It's the Polmood Hut, first control on the Dave Harris 200.

It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

It's the Polmood Hut, it was used as the first control on the Dave Harris 200 up to a few years ago
http://goo.gl/maps/8rLRH

The control is now at the Tweedsmuir Hall

Well after a bit of lurking, I'll pop my yacf cherry with this - the Old New inn at Bourton on the Water, Gloucestershire (taken back in January on a weekend break with my good lady):

There's one in a local antique shop. When I enquired they said it wasn't for sale. Otherwise I'd have mounted it on our house.

Excellent!

Our friend Geoff Boxall, stalwart of the East Sussex CTC, had a winged wheel cake for his 84th birthday party yesterday!

Good grief.  The number of years that I've been here and yet never spotted this before on the Porth in Llandysul.

The word at the top of the sign is "Headquarters"
It was pointed out on last night's local history society walk.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

This one is in Lechlade at the junction of the Faringdon and Burford roads.

Bourton-on-the-Water.

Somewhere there must be a New Old Inn, hopefully also with a winged wheel.

Staying at the Red Lion, Hillingdon, last week, there was an old photo in the bedroom showing the pub early 20th C with sign-written "Good accomodation [sic] for cyclists".  All vanished now.  I wish I'd taken a pic of it.

I can't help but think the CTC are missing a "vintage" marketing opportunity which would do no harm to their profile. I really must look out for these more. To be honest they're worth expressly including in the List description of any Listed Building and I wonder if they usually are ?
