100mph fixie

British fixie builder Donhou is looking to hit 100mph with his extreme geared fixie:

Quote from: American non-cycling website
Most of us don't put much thought into the components that make a bicycle move. Things like chains and chainrings are pretty much out of sight and out of mind as we peddle along. With Donhou Bicycles' 100-mph bike, you can't ignore the chainring. It's so big, you could serve a large pizza on it.
The Donhou bike has a purpose in mind. It's made to go fast. The strange-looking handlebars keep the rider hunched forward in an aerodynamic position. That humungous serving plate-size chainring then goes to work to propel you forward at speeds your Huffy would never even dare to dream of.
That monster of a chainring sports 105 teeth and is 17 inches in diameter. That means every go-round of the pedal sends the bike forward way farther than your standard road or mountain bike.

The bike was unveiled at the Bespoked Bristol 2013 show, but so far it looks like it will remain an specialty item and not go into wider production.

"That humungous serving plate-size chainring then goes to work to propel you forward...."

I would have that that at some stage the rider would be involved in the propulsion?

Not initially, I don't imagine.
Getting there...

Well given that it is a no-brakes, low-pro handlebarred fixie,  it will probably just get pushed along the pavement to the nearest cafe.

It is a stupid bike design and aimed at too low a speed. http://www.fredrompelberg.com/en/html/algemeen/fredrompelberg/record.asp

Well, yes, and the design features of that bike (and Dave LeGrys' before) show up the shortcomings of the Donhou as a serious record contender.

However, there might be a different record for fixed, as I think the others used freewheels of some description.

Donhou produce some lovely frames, but that's a showpiece and not a serious contender.

Not entire sure about the current record bike but the previous one (at 152 mph) used Campag Pista hubs with a lockring.

For a moment, I was trying to imagine that ...then I remembered that a comma is European for the decimal point.  It's only 167 mph.  :)
