Dear weather gods.

I would like a week or so of warm dry, light breeze weather, like, well, now please, so can get back on my bike. I realize I have offended you by planting out tender veggies in my new veg beds, but I feel you are mocking me. Is it asking too much for a little bit of kind weather for getting back on my bike for the first time in donkey's years?

Thanks for your consideration. xx

I've normally little sympathy for anyone waiting for perfect weather in the UK ...

But this May is something else. Every day much the same - brief heavy/thundery/hail showers for most of the day. Sunny spells.

We just don't get this for sustained periods. Can someone try turning it off-and-on again?  ::-)

May is usually one of the nicer months.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

May is usually one of the nicer months.

Until comparatively recently May was the traditional month for BRITAIN to have its summer.

The new tradition seems to be summer in April, autumn in May, and if we're lucky another summer in July.
