Mine too. In fact having to get to work with a damaged ankle and car in the garage for two weeks is what convinced me I could cycle commute 6 years ago and got me back into cycling :)

I ordered a book and two maps for partner from Amazon.
GN: The book arrived the next day. (Amazon Logistics)
BN: The maps have not arrived a week after the book. (Royal Mail)
BN: Royal Mail don't track ordinary post.
GN: Amazon say they are going to send replacement maps by One Day Delivery.

The maps will turn up eventually. Just seems to happen from time to time. Have to say RM seems pretty good these days overall.

GN: After 17 months the Council Housing Association are fitting a shower in my bathroom.
BN: It's a piece of crap electric shower.

We're in a ground floor flat with a combi boiler. We have mains pressure hot water that you can cook lobsters in straight from the tap. Why the everlasting fuck don't they just fit a mixer shower? I like a shower so forceful it takes the top layer of skin off.

Don't tell Mr Smith, but he'll shortly be having a wee tap-exchanging plumbing job to undertake.

I feel your pain.

I worked around it with one of these and lashings and lashings of self-amalgamating tape.

We've been using one of these for the last 18 months. Now that the whole room is being tiled, Mr Smith someone will be fitting this.

I tried one of those when the boiler was first replaced[1].  It couldn't hack our awesome water pressure, and one of the tap condom thingies started to bulge like a defective sidewall that's about to ruin your day.  Gaffer tape constrained the expansion, but it just kept blowing off the tap instead.

I've been tempted to fit a proper mixer tap, but I'm put off by it being at the wrong end of the bath.

Amen!

[1] Original boiler was a piece of 80s nostalgia and had a scaled up secondary heat exchanger that made it unsuitable for showers.  I persuaded a friendly CORGI inspector to condemn it.

GN:Looks like they're in today's post, but that is 10 days in the system.
BN: I offered said maps to sister-in-law, when she said original would turn up.
She also lives in NW London and has three teenage sons and an eight-year-old daughter. She didn't think they'd have a use for these maps. ::-)

I'll find a good home for these maps elsewhere...

Not specifying which year the Christmas falls in could help here.

GN: Went to the library to get a card, following 5 years non use and a change of address.

GN: The nice librarian told me my old lost one was still valid and she could transfer it my new address.

BN: The nice librarian told me I owed £5.35 dating back 5 years.

BN: I am working until 6pm tomorrow
GN: The students, or most of them, will be gone
GN: It'll be dark, so I can try out my new B&M IQ Premium dynamo light. 80 lumens of shine in the right direction. I shall retain the Hope Vision 1 on the 'bars until I know it's all working as it should be.

Update: A partial success. All works as it should, but I need to adjust the beam. I think it'll be trial and error, only when I stop to adjust it the beam disappears! The running lights are useful though.

GN - Boss signed off my leave request for the Clapham hostel weekend and a week in Italy in February.

BN - I've no more leave left until March & may have to be in the flat to let some builder types in to look & something & possibly do some fixing..

GN - Partner had a cataract op. this morning and all went swimmingly

BN - It had to be done privately because Hywell Dda Health Board waiting lists are ridiculous for a 20 min local anaesthtic procedure. :( :(

Hopefully she will now be able to get home from work without being clapped out from eyestrain, be able to drive in the dark & return to her normal working hrs.
