2010 desktop background calendar - submissions
« on: 05 October, 2009, 04:44:26 am »
Okay, I'm up for doing another desktop background calendar for 2010 if people are interested???

This thread is for you to post pictures for submission. Rules would be the same as last year, which are:
1: It should be a picture taken by you and have the permission of any recognisable YACF members in it (general members of the public are fair game).
2: Must be in landscape format.
3: It should be cycling related (no generic landscapes that you've spotted on your travels, unless there's a cyclist or bike in there somewhere)
4: Posting small pics here for ease of viewing is preferred, but please make sure there will be a high resolution (3mp+) version available for the finished articles.

I'll make the final decisions on who makes the cut. It would be nice to vote on it, but the logistics involved would be a nightmare and I'd like to include as many of the submissions as possible. Of course, all photographers will be credited on the image.

Also, if anyone has any thoughts on the 2009 designs (which are still available to download here if you aren't aware) then feel free to let me know (for instance did the dates interfere with anything on your desktop etc).

I'll nominate chocolatebike's Hood River pictures for September, if he's amenable.

Since I missed this year's calendar until now, would you mind awfully re-doing all this year's pics with next year's dates? Because there are some I'd really like the opportunity to use.

Would it be possible to have the dates further up?  It's just that they always seem to get chopped off.

It's photoshopped, but I love it.

Are you using the pics in the correct aspect ratio? I noticed there are three versions for different screen sizes.

Think so, probably doesn't help that the largest I can use is 1024 x 600 so am using 1600 x 1200 as its the nearest according to the post (1024 x 768).

Note to self: if there is a 2010 YACF calendar, remember to nominate this awesome winter photo by eck.

I'd second that - this is a superb photo!

I haven't asked permission, but they are very YACF photos.

It is simpler than it looks.

Here is a more serious submission.

It is cropped from the original, to better highlight the cyclists.

How about this photo - I like to call it 'A March Audax in Scotland' - (it is a bit blue though.  The cold got to my camera)

What about this, I have it as desktop and Icons show up well against it, could be too dark though

They use a very famous pattern and have declined it in colours of late.

I don't know if this is good enough quality, either in terms of pixel count or artistic merit, but I humbly offer it for consideration none the less. It's at the top of The Struggle, just by the Kirkstone Pass Inn, where I was caught in a blizzard about this time a year ago. It might be more impressive if you could make out the gradient on the sign in the background...

I love both of those shots Peli, but I guess I am heavily biased by sentiment. I too would like to know what that road is as I am convinced that I have ridden it. Lovely shot, by the way, I would really like that as one of my desktops next year.

I'll find out exactly where it is for you, TKP. I'll need to get the map out.

And here's a great shot my Mum took on Lewis last week of her pride and joy (I'm sure she'll be a yacfer soon).

I read it as Luncheon Vouchers ;D. It's very nice and that photo is really cool. Girl - bike - panniers - scenery
