The Misplaced Childhood album saw me through my O'levels.

Several years ago I was walking down Haddington High Street and my thoughts were "that bloke coming the other way is very tall ... he is really tall ... he really is a very tall man ... ... ... that bloke was Fish..."  ;D

I was introduced to the music of Paddy Roberts by my parents, who knew him when they were in Africa.

Well that makes at least three Paddy Roberts fans on here!  Butterfly was the first person I met outside my family who'd ever heard of him.
I think my mother has some of his stuff.

For the true taste of the 70s this Medley of Cher and the Osmonds singing Stevie Wonder takes some beating. It's like being on Magic Mushrooms all over again.

Marillion are the biggest band to come out of Aylesbury that I never saw perform.  ;D I was there, they were there - and I didn't give a toss, despite being prime band-watching age.

Ah - but I've seen them perform! Hard to avoid, growing up when & where I did. They were enough older than me that I wouldn't have mixed with them at school, even if I'd been at the same school, but I knew people who knew them, mostly older brothers of my school friends.

YouTube - M.A.R.S. - Pump Up The Volume
YouTube - S-Express-Theme from S-Express.

That list includes two of my top three all-time most hated songs, of which the top five are:

1. Respectable - Mel & Kim
2. Showing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend) - Mel & Kim
3. The Only Way Is Up - Yazz
4. Owner Of A Lonely Heart - Yes
5. We Built This City On Rock And Roll - Starship*

Def Leppard, in their best boogie-rock phase.  They lost it with "Hysteria", I thought - too many electronic effects.  "High and Dry" and "Pyromania" are the albums to buy, although in no case can the lyrics be described as anything other than banal.

People who sneer at other people for the music they like deserve a slap.

Anyway. I'll add:

Look, I know this is wrong, but: Beyonce - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).

Just concentrate on how classy the music and video production is, OK?

I've not heard Bloody Allen's latest album, because her last one pissed me off so much.  I might have to try it now, since I also like Pink and Katy Perry.

Oh, I'm not recommending you buy the latest album.

I am.  There are loads of great tunes on it!  You can't beat a good pop tune.

Def Leppard
Carole King
Glen Campbell
Scorpions
Runrig (the older stuff before DM got Ego and a haircut)
U2
Monkees
Ozric Tentacles

However....there are groups/artists that sre sneered at purely for fashion reasons. Just because something was recorded more than three weeks ago, its musical value is not diminished. Wow's Bach is an excellent example. So, here are some selected bands of mine that many will sneer at purely on age grounds:
Jethro Tull
Hawkwind
Lindisfarne

Earth Wind and Fire, and The Emotions.

A possible cure for the unemployment crisis would be to form a number of tribute bands, that would take care of 100,000, half in the band and half running up costumes.
