Best thing of all is that Bjarne Riis is still Directeur Sportif at CSC.. How's that possible?

In Cycle Sport last month there was an article on the Rico affair at the TdF.  There was also an article from leading professors in the anti doping arena.  It voiced the opinion that teams that run their own blood testing were possibly only doing so to keep a tab on their riders and to get an early warning of when not to dope further.  It means they can top up with small amounts and therefore beat the tests.  It used CSC as an example of a team that does this.

That, I think, was the point made by the retiring DS of Gerolsteiner  - that drug testing can only be credible when it is done by an independent authority.

My pal SG says "Riis is old school, rotten to the core",  - is that becoming a widespread view?
