Title: Twitter and football
Post by: Basil on 29 December, 2019, 07:06:26 pm
I very rarely look to see what's trending on Twitter.  Because 9/10 or 18/20 trends will be football related.  Is that my fault?  Have I done something to suggest to Twitter that I'm interested?  Is there something I can do?

I rarely access twitter through the website, which makes that stuff easier to ignore.

I also rarely use anything other than the phone app.  I think the problem is looking at Twitter trends just after football has happened.
So there is something I can do.   ::-)

Easy really, wasn't it?

There's site wide trends. I assume you're not looking to create a trend just to push football off. If so, my experience won't help!

Buried in the site somewhere is their idea of what you're interested in.
On the web, having logged in i do...
More / Settings and privacy / Content preferences / Trends
Sets whether they just give you generic trends or for you. If you've got this off, maybe football is possibly just what the average twitter user is interested in?

But also
Settings and privacy / Account
Your twitter data / password agin / Interests and ads data. Then three sources to choose.
If football is in there you can untick.
My list is moderately wrong, but long enough that it doesn't come out with just one thing.
