My S-reg Mondeo work-car/delivery vehicle has today passed it's MOT without needing any remedial work whatsoever
So the money budgeted for this could be spent on something else.

I was told by my boss yesterday that things are tight and some tough decisions will have to be made. She also said that my job was secure.

The La Pavoni Espressso machine has arrived.

It promises to be a learning experience, I'm just hoping my heart can stand the caffeine accelerated pace!

I've just stuffed myself in the Virgin Upper Class lounge.

I only travelled Upper Class once, about 9 years back, but the striking thing I found about the lounge was the proportion of the lounge attendants who were pregnant (presumably since they couldn't work onboard the planes by that stage of pregnancy) -- it stuck in my memory because I found that, combined with the "Virgin" logo on the uniforms, quite funny.

Virgin company motto: "It's a fucking miracle!"

Our offshore employees frequently adopt European sounding names,   one of them chose Mary Virgin...  so we now get emails from virgin.mary@xxx.com..

That box of biscuits that I thought was empty had another whole sleeve of biscuits in it!!
It is simpler than it looks.

I've just received a whole bag of goodies through the post from CRC.
Knee warmers for non-creaky knees
Saddle (Selle Filante Gel (with a hole)) for non-hurty nads
Brake cables to replace the awful stretchy ones I've got in at the moment.
...plus more!

Rather than cycling straight past the book tables at the south bank today, I rode up to one, glanced down and saw Andrew Ritchie's 'King of the Road' illustrated history of cycling for a fiver

Turns out it's not by the inventor of the Brompton but it is a great read

(and, for once, it costs more online than on the stall!)

Based on today, it looks as if the Satmap Active 10 Li-ion battery I was given for Christmas lasts much longer than the AA rechargeables I've been using up to now.

After 8 months of my Grandmother being in an old people's hospital (she had a nasty fall which damaged her hip) she has now been finally granted funding by the local health board and will be in a home next week. This will hopefully end years of constant round-the-clock help by my Mother who has been an absolute saint to a woman who has made her life a misery. Hallelujah.

That does indeed sound like good news :)

My very limping cat (who cost me £35 for an inconclusive exam and a couple of jabs today) has started to put a little tiny bit of weight onto the poorly paw.  So it probably isn't broken, and hopefully when we return to the vets tomorrow (wish me luck getting him in the box 2 days in a row!) it will simply be for them to say 'yes, carry on!' and possibly tell me to force pills down his nexk for a few days.  As opposed to keeping him in overnight or organising to get him back there on Thursday for a probably very expensive x-ray.  Little blighter's done nothing but ask to be fed all day too - he wouldn't thank me for a day of starvation before sedation and x-rays :)

If he's eating, he's probably OK.  Cats feeling a bit off colour tend to bugger off and hide somewhere and not eat.  This of course can be troublesome since then they get weak and dehydrated, feel worse, and so on, in a nasty cycle.  The last time Talisker was ill he ended up on a drip to rehydrate him, and start him eating again.

A good appetite is a good sign.
Actually, it is rocket science.

And this morning he's wandering around with a slight affected swagger rather than a limp, so I think there's nothing critical.  Although I think he rather liked the painkillers - I swear he was tripping last night!

Gosh, that's a terrible long time to be in a hospital.  I hope that your Grandmother is happy in her new home.  And hugs to your mother.
Getting there...

My new (to me) frame has arrived at home.

I will be popping home at lunch time to measure the bits I need to measure so I can get the bits I need to build it up.

For the very first time the piece I'm trying to learn (Cancion del Emperador) sounds like music, rather than a ghastly mess.
