Anyone who takes these psuedo adverts serious, must be mass debaters.

Don't knock KidsCan....

How much of the 27,000 x £31 that the London to Brighton brings in.... goes to Charity?

How much of the 240 x £5 that a 100km Audax brings to the organiser.... goes to Charity?

Is this a serious question - it is hard to tell?

the answer is;

1. the BHF claim none; it just covers the running of the event. But London to Brighton Bike Ride Ltd is wholly owned by the BHF so you would hope that some of that £3/4m went to a good cause;
2. a few organisers do donate the profits (profits; on an Audax??) to charity. I'd have no problem with a levy being added to all entries for a good cause, after all nobody's going to baulk at an extra couple of quid, but that's not for this thread

My favoured charities may not be yours.
I like having fun.
You like having fun.
I don't see why I should subsidise your fun (or charity trip to Mediterranea which requires you to raise £2000).
I will get my fun where I choose.
I will donate to the charities I choose.

all very valid; unfortunately people generally donate more when asked to sponsor someone; or some bloody cheerful twat chummily sidles up to them in the street, than just paying the charity direct.

I'm not saying I agree with either method. I certainly don't agree with people taking a cut of their sponsorship to subsidise their fun; but am happy to sponsor someone who is doing something which they are financing if I happen to agree with the charity.

Now listen here. This is an Audax board for Audax people. We'll have no Sportives here!

I think that spamming adverts onto forums is an absolute disgrace.

Incidentally, my cycling club is operating an absolutely wonderful audax on 19th June.

For details on the audax that always fills, the Beacon RCC Cotswolds audaxes of 100/150 & 200km, see:

Plus the I cannot recommend highly enough my own Permanent, the MONTGOMERY MADNESS:

For God's sake, have your learnt nothing about audaxes?  In an audax you have to be self-reliant. Bring your own bloody toilet paper! But remember that it must conform to AUK Regulations.

There's over seventeen and a half thousand topics on this forum. Why's this one causing so much excitement?

OK he maybe spam-ing, but it's no worse than the self-promotion that many of you are also guilty of.

If you don't ask - you don't get, and you only get by keeping in the focus of peoples attention.

I'd agree with this 100%
Seeing as I have my 400km audax listed on

The difference is that (like Zoom and Billy) you hang around here. You contribute aduax-related stuff, training advice, and even provide "constructive criticism" of other events (you bastard! ) .

Our new friend hasn't even bothered to respond to our positive comments on this topics.

(And adding yourself to an open calendar is hardly spamming.)

If you're on the 200, it gotta be pink.
If you're on the 150, its Beige.
If you're on the 100, its a pastel blue.

Can the powers that be here simply not make a sub board for Sportifs so that anyone posting one can place it there, so that it will only be read by those interested in it.
And if one is listed on the Audax section it can and will be moved !

It's surely much more fun to bitch and moan about it though?
