Mr Smith and I are both 'in'.

Wanky stats ahoy!

(Disclaimer: Season total thus far is, erm, 7641m. )

3333m a day. How hard can it be?

quite hard, if you consider 2 days doing "other stuff" = 10000m on day three.

good luck with it.  I'm hoping to get much more use from my C2 once the gym/office/shed/garage refurb is complete

It's a long time since I did much rowing. First 10k for a long long time, was a real struggle past 7000m
Gradually getting faster, or if needs be (just finished a 48hour fast) actually take it easy for 5k.
I've now rowed further this season, than in the three preceding seasons added together
Had to miss a few days - hilly audaxes and rowing don't mix.

14/12/16 - 15587m - hare into top gear

My poor poor hands.
How long before daily rowing doesn't give blisters?
I dunno, but when I worked as a builder's labourer I was told to put witchazel (in alcohol, not gel stuff) on the blisters. Dries them up and hardens them so you can carry on working. Drain the blisters of fluid and apply the witchazel and the blisters should turn to calluses.

Concept 2 have a team challenge - http://log.concept2.com/challenges/vtc.  Anyone else interested in contributing some metres.  I think I can keep the momentum from the Holiday Challenge going if I've got an incentive.  There is already a yacf team set up.

Probably CBA with challenges ATM as it interferes with structure of my training.

Despite being in an actual rowing club I'm doing far less rowing machine time than in some previous seasons.

Huge congrats, knowing what it takes.  Are you up for the team challenge in January?

Am still going as some people issues meant I didn't get home until after 8pm - so my planned 20k completion row was cut short to 10k.  Hopefully tomorrow morning with a very early alarm call, and no Motorhead as backing music out of respect for the neighbours.

Second

My wrist is still fecked - no rowing for me.

Also rowing such long distances on the erg is actively discouraged at our rowing club.

Do I need to push any buttons on the concept ii website? This is an individual challenge innit?

Unlikely to take part this year.  Working away from home all week so very little time to get on a concept 2.  Also focusing on my 50km Dartmoor Traverse running challenge on 6th January.  On the plus side, have just run my 13th half marathon in 14 weeks (I didn't do one on my holiday).

I was thinking of upping my rowing in the last two weeks of the year, easier to nip out to the shed when I have visitors than "sorry I'm just heading out on the bike"

My record this year so far is something like 4 sessions at an average 7200m each.

Reckon I could double it by 31st Dec?

Getting back into regular sessions after lower back twinge (yet again) in Twickenham RC 4x- 2 months ago. Currently doing an old C2 weight management programme which is all UT2 and builds from 10 mins to bleedin' hours if you feel so inclined, but metres currently only 5-6,000 per session, so I haven't joined in (too feeble  :( ).

Haven't been out sculling either as I am not sure I could go quick enough to keep warm in the recent weather...

I probably hadn't used my C2 more than 3-4 times a year for the last 10 years before seeing this thread.  Combined with an increase in the number of near misses on evening rides recently the incentive to use it more was well timed and I've actually enjoyed spending the time on it.  Now I've done the distance for the challenge I'll probably try and dig out something more structured, at least until the clocks change and it makes mid-week cycling more appealing again.

I've signed up for the individual challenge in January. It's taken me almost all of this one to get to 'standard' pace, let alone any improvements.
Consistency is key.
