Red eTap?

Not sure, only had a cursory look so far. Wiggle seem to be doing a good deal on Apex.

Agreed. Having done the BCM twice I quite fancied a different AAA 600 and this one pre LEL fitted well.

Ah. I should add that I have also entered the BCM, having missed it for a few years.

Just waiting for the review of Ned...

OK then ...

We can all talk about cycling for hours but no-one is ever going to pay us.  In fact they are more likely to pay us to stop.

Ned's reputation is sufficient for people to risk £20 to listen to him bang on about cycling, but of course he might turn out to be shite.  The good news is he wasn't!  He was funny, interesting, engaging and thought provoking.  The format of his performance is innovative and his high risk strategy paid off - you can get people to pay to listen to a middle aged man talk about cycling for a couple of hours - who'd of thought, there's hope for us all (well perhaps not).

The weekend after next has golf potential.  I have re-joined 5 Lakes so I nominate there (I may have a couple of free passes).

Is there still golfing potential this coming weekend? I'm up for it if there is...
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

A quieter than usual MEMWNS evening, just me, AndyC333333333 and Tomsk - none of the noisy rabble!  We had a lovely run down to the PoW which is a nice pub and one we should visit more frequently perhaps. I think we stuck to the Crouch Vale Yakima all night.

Friends, Saxons & ACME members, lend me your helper minutes!
The Essex 3Rs has attracted quite a large field. The Battesford Court were very happy to hear that ~50 cyclists were going to pop in on the 5th Nov, that's now likely to be closer to 70.
I'm thinking some bike security patrolling will be necessary before the grand depart, anyone fancy putting in something like a 30 minute shift outside making sure none of the local oiks win themselves a new bike?

I'm planning on getting there about 8:30 and enjoy breakfast before the masses arrive. I think there will be need for bikes to be parked down the driveway too.
Will offer an earlier start option too I think to thin the field.

I will do likewise.  I think I'm right in thinking 'spoons don't start serving beer until 8:30 so there's no point turning up earlier  ;D

Let us know if you need a parking space.  You could park outside our house and ride to spoon's with us.  All day parking around here costs just 1 pint   Mind you I think I owe you a pint.

I'm aiming to be at the spoons for as soon after 9 as I can on my ECE, so should be refuelled and able to help near to start-time.

In other ACME news: three of us out and about on 'Emitremmus Desrever' from Stevenage yesterday. Saw Tippers at the start [300km day - ECE via Bures!] and Redlight at Saffron Walden mid-way through - both in a later start group. Among a few other 'usual suspects' I saw Peter Walton [Hertfordshire Wheelers] came stonking past in a club group and said hi. Usual gripes about crap group riding, unfriendly overtakers who then sat 50 yards up ahead for ages etc etc...but it's a great, hilly route, just a pity the mist rendered much of the scenery invisible  :(

Kept forgetting to let the Pinarellos go, rather than trying to keep up, with me on my 'winterised' fixie: Marathon Plusses, 64" twiddly gear, saddlebag, and so on. My righteous mudguard was admired though :smug: Bounced all controls, then had a big feed back at Costello's. I think I will be more leisurely next week...

I'm kind of planning to ECE it with 86k prior to the start leaving just a short ride home afterwards....nothing concrete yet though. If I don't ECE I will pop over early and be available to help.

It was indeed good to see fellow ACME riders yesterday even though we were split up. Tomsk chasing carbon in the fast group and Redlight and I a bit further back. I was struggling a bit with the ups (of which there were plenty in my day out) so I dropped backwards pretty quickly and caught up to say Hi to Redlight at each of the controls as he was leaving.

The ride home mercifully got flatter after Clavering and after an emergency roadside sugar stop I took about 30 minutes at the compasses for a couple of pints and a couple of bags of crisps before finishing the job and getting back at just after 10pm (after a 4:15 departure)
