Did you get my suggestion about the beetles being an info control rather than the pub?

 Next year...brevet cards are already printed.

Fair enough. The fact the the route passes the beetles is moist excellent. To think the route could easily have used The Oaky Route Wot is Longer and Not as Much Fun. He must be soooooo disappointed  ;D

What with the success of FORWARD PLANNING and the favouring of routes that pass the iconic beetles I imagine Oaky must be feeling a little bruised and unloved at the moment. We must all make a special effort to be nice to him for a while, he is our friend and it's important we look after him  :-*

What happened last night then?
We rode our bikes to a couple of pubs, had a few beers, rode our bikes home again.

Two points of note ...

Tomsk is behaving nicely as you'd expect.

And Hot Black is sticking up the wrong finger!

Chapeau to Tomsk for a splendid Essex SR award ceremony at the spiritual home last night.

When I arrived the shit roaders - OD, Tomsk and Jiber - were already in the Green Room recovering from their ride.  Apparently all had gone well but doubtless OD will produce a full report of how wonderful it all was in due course.

We were soon joined by a number of ACME stalwarts and regular Essex riders from further afield.  Of course Wilkyboy had to trump everyone by riding in from Cambridge, probably via Sweden, on fixed.

Sid James won the now coveted inaugural ACME points award and Wilkyboy took home the helper of the year trophy.

It is probably best to draw a veil over the rest of the evening but a good time was had by all until it was time to face the cold ride home.  I was escorted as far as Witham by Lord Oakworth of Badgerington and the Hustler and rolled home in the early hours.

Good write up GD... I managed to have the good idea to put the car parcel shelf on the roof whilst I loaded the bike into the team car... Of course, 1km down the road after then inevitable thump I was pulling it out of a hedgerow!

Great night, thanks to Tom and helpers for getting me through my first SR!

Was any ACME merchandise sold in the end?

And yes, it was a shame splendid evening to round off a splendid day. Thanks to you all.

I think Tomsk sold a couple of caps.  No one could resist buying one after seeing me and my homeboy Jiber reverse styling.

Indeed - there's a fetching picture of me looking not very sober with a multi cap experience on display!

In other news, I mentioned a couple of times on our MEMWNS sessions the possibility of a Brewery Tour of Wibblers, they are based in Southminster, located near the fabled historic stomping ground of ACME GCFO.

A rough plan might be transport via bike to the venue, perhaps via a food stop of some description, then a brewery tour and sample of the fine wares and then somehow working our way home to wherever .... options home could include wobbling on two wheels and the hell of Latchingdon or train assist with a change at Shenfield - or a combination of the above...

Seems mighty fine value at £10 for a tour and 4 pints of beer!  (not sure if we would opt for the group tour (evening) or some other weekend combo, not sure about the food option either...)

Are we interested, if so, who and when? (Summer would be ideal, but we might be able to brave a weekend in Spring/Winter?)

Me too. Thanks Nik.

How would this be wired in? Suppose I have a bike with a Son Delux to which a B&M IQ-X is to be connected. Would the D1 connect at the same points as the IQ-X, or could I connect to the other connection on the Son Delux that is intended for rear lights? At the moment I am not intending to fit a rear dynamo light.

Same points as the main light I would expect, i.e. in parallel

I'd agree, it just needs to be wired in parallel. I think I am going to solder a run of wire onto the one that currently goes to my rear lights and run it up under the seat. I will then add some of THESE which Wilkyboy recommended under the saddle so I can easily remove the unit if I don't need to carry it. The Igaro can then sit in my Carradice charging the battery pack and it will mean I don't have to be carrying the Bar Bag all the time.
