Tracker seems to have gone into radio silence but I reckon he’ll be finished by 7pm in Italy. I’ve started on a pint in anticipation.

I finished in a total time of 7days, 6 hours and 10 minutes. The first (and only) singlespeed rider to finish this year, but others have done in prior years.

Thank you for the support along the way. So very much appreciated when I got tired or the track became difficult.

The tracker seems to have got stuck. After spending quite some time at the finish, I returned to Nago before switching the tracker off.

An amazing achievement of which I think we all have at least some idea of the preparation and mental fortitude needed to complete such a ride. Have a well deserved rest now and look forward to seeing you!

It was great fun following your dot.

Bloody well done, what an adventure.  Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it, whether that’s in person, or you decide to write up your experience before the smaller details evaporate or become fuzzy.

Brilliant achievement, well done.  I look forward to hearing / reading all about it soon.

I have taken the ferry from Point Clear many years ago, having cycled there directly from St Osyth. Have done the route from St Osyth to Seawick and then along to Clacton, Frinton and Walton many times, I really like it. Also at the right time of year I have swum between Jaywick and Clacton. It's worth going all the way to the Naze tower if you have time

Was an absolute lovely ride despite a visitation, a broken chain and the lug to the ferry across pebble beach's either end of the ferry.

The caravan parks at point clear and seawick looked fairly rough and jaywick wad as expected but had some parts that were clearly looked after by proud residents but then would be a empty vandalised chalet just a few down

Definitely a ride worth doing, would need to be on something with decent size tyres as the path turned to gravel approaching frinton

I'll chuck this here instead of starting a new thread, have any ACMEites cycled along from point clear to frinton?

Wondering what the sea wall/beach front route is like as getting ferry from Mersea to point clear then cycling to frinton

Many years ago, perhaps 30, a group of us crossed Alresford Creek with our bikes to Brightlingsea via the RUPP byway on spec, with no regard to tides (perhaps we were lucky), from the old gravel pits in Alresford.  We got a bit muddy but we  reached the other side safely.

It can be done in 4WD vehicles but a comment below the video suggests it's not possible  now due to silting.   Has anyone else tried this?  *

*Ditto Hullbridge to South Woodham, which looks impossible even at low tide.

He's aiming for a Saturday finish, so sounds like it's mostly going to plan then!

Friday lunchtime at this pace, although it gets a bit lumpy around Limburg.

600k left to do and moving well.   He's doing a stretch that I have ridden in the past and really enjoyed.   There's potential for a Thursday night finish but I'm still going with Friday lunch.

I would have thought Friday is more likely, especially with the hills still to come. Grand effort.

I presume he’s riding RATN. What’s his rider number or other identifier I can use to dot watch?

Coming up on 1700k.   Going for a finish today or hotel and short ride in the morning ?

Didn't post to Facebook last night so maybe on a mission ?

He posted to Strava later than previous days, and said he was too tired to write a description of the day. Suspect he has a plan to close out the ride, but I'm not sure what that might be.

We have exchanged messages.   'Bloody Hills' was part of it.

That'll teach the silly bugger to ride in mountainous regions like The Netherlands.  He'll be back in the Pyrenees before you know it, much flatter.
