The tail wind stayed with us for ages. It wasn't until we turned into Bishops Cannings that we had the wind in our faces. Having climbed Blowingstone Hill the descent all the way to Lambourn was an absolute delight. Friendly helpers with some top notch food on offer and not a drop of rain all day. Not a lot more we could have asked for.

Thanks Steve organising another good event and excellent controls; such a difference to last year when roads around Lambourn awash with groundwater flooding !

Was going well and on schedule until 100km mark when punctured, took long time to fix (and pump up  ::-) and then tyre all `wobbley` on rim. Couldn`t sort it out so just hoped to luck nothing bad would happen.... So lost `my stride` from then on but a good dose of sugar and caffeine @ Lacock gave me impetus for last hard section back into headwind, which I found tough going. Took an hour longer than 2014 route.

Lovely lanes and scenery though, maybe one day I`ll give it a go in Summer when it would be truly glorious to ride around
....after the `tarte de pommes`, and  fortified by a couple of shots of limoncellos,  I flew up the Col de Bavella whilst thunderstorms rolled around the peaks above

Any news on Mike Harvey?

I've heard through the ether that he launched himself over the handlebars.

Although Mike's a fairly pacey cyclist, he's not likely to reach "earth escape" velocity, I hope the landing was soft.,

He's fine - face planted into a muddy bank ;D

I was right behind him at the time. His rear wheel slid and the bike careered in a straight direction from the bend into a soft ditch, Mike went over the handle bars and face first into the mud.  He picked himself up quickly.

Thanks to Steve and the team for a great event.

I suffered in a character building sort of way. A combination of lack of fitness and cold conditions. And when you're feeling drained, what do you really need? Yes, 4 miles ascent of the White Way. But I dug in and resisted the temptation to take mini breaks and got back in (for me) a reasonable time.

I worked a 21hr day on Sat>Sun and feel it was all worthwhile. Still have a load of Admin before finalising accounts and results but a few notes:

Very disappointed with 23 DNS for the Flyer200 and a few for the 100 and 150. I had some prior notification but it disappoints the Control teams who prepare food for the entered number. Perhaps it was a plague of illness, which certainly does not encourage a hard day in the saddle. The dry, though cool, weather wasn't enough to deter hardy AUKs.

The Controls reported very contented and respectful cyclists. Both the Fernham (Uffington WI) and Burbage (Church) Teams have helped me for a few years and have earned a reputation for excellence. May that continue. Seriously thinking of making the switch to Fernham permanent? It suits the routes and (the converted Church) makes an interesting stop. Thoughts?

The Arrivee café was also supporting Team "oneyeartimetrial" to ensure Steven Abraham has the funds to complete his mammoth ride, with now close to 14,400miles(75/365days (20%)) with rides exceeding 200miles for the last 5 days. The collection + Café surplus will contribute about £130, with more to calculate on completion of the accounts. Thank you to you all.

Finally a huge thank you to the Andoversford Depart/Arrivee team: D – Lou and Mark Rigby and Janet Baglin: A – Shirley (my wife) and Brian Rainbow.

A superlative event.

This was my first Flyer. I've used the Uffington Village Hall on the (Uffington) Blowingstone 100km though and whilst there's no disputing that it's a great facility, the church at Fernham was a real gem and definitely something a bit special.

I am guilty of a DNS without prior notification for which I can only apologise. Not good manners. It looked a good route and I hope to incorporate it into a DIY later in the year (*unless it is a perm?).
Mojo is being awakened.

It is a Perm, as are the 2 other routes that Ron Carlton used for previous Cheltenham Flyers. On my Perms listings.

Today, I transferred £137 into TGs sponsor fund in the name of Cheltenham Flyer. So thanks to all the Diners who enjoyed the post-ride fayre and to those who contributed to the box alongside SteveA's pic.

More to follow after the final accounts and then the Gospel Pass 200 on 13 Jun.

Cheers Mark....

Course I've already done two 600 PBP qualifiers, but the MMPYMICADAC should be the crowning glory, even if it's harder to abbreviate than the BCM or the K&SW  ;D
I’ve decided I’m not old. I’m 25 .....plus shipping and handling.

20th June is last chance for PBP 600 qualification. There are 3 x 600's on that day.
Thankfully I got mine in early.
