I'm currently cooking her Ladyship's supper, so I should avoid a Cinderella type situation this evening.

I'll be out at some point😀

Has anyone checked out The Monkey aka Rayleigh Arms in Terling lately?  Just ridden past then checked them out on the Insta, looks promising after many years in the Doldrums.

Been there a few times recently and I doing the best I've ever known it. Not sure on ale range as only ever popped in for one not a quaffers quorum meeting

It's been busy when I've cycled past recently, good to see them doing well, looks more foody than boozy though.

Is there a pic of the beer menu "on insta"? (I can't believe I'm going along with this FFS)

The last beer list was posted on 9th June.  Looks like there were 4 beers and 2 ciders.  I was hoping that we could send a scouting party in there to do a recce and have a chat to assess suitability.  When I say "scouting party" I meant BFC  ;D

To be honest, I think a mid summer sunny evening deserves a proper beer garden, I’m not quite as ready with the building works as I hoped I’d be  ::-)

So where to then??
Is it seasonable enough to do the Axe & Compasses sitting in the garden?
Prince of Wales Stow Maries?
Hurdlemakers?
Queens Head Maldon? (I think thats the one we usually do)

Somewhere else?

Queen's Head, Maldon gets my vote, for a sunny mid-summer evening.

If any of the western contingent are out, then the Axe and Compasses, Aythorpe Roding is good too.

Not voting as I am due at “Chez Elderly Parent” early evening tomorrow but if you end up at the Axe then I will try and join you for a late pint as it’s within staggering distance from home.

Anyone else for Aythorpe Roding and an E-W split? Though I'm happy to go to Maldon for the additional excitement of a mud-free river!

OK I am erring Maldon on the basis of quantity of attendance (and the beer choice was a bit broader I think)

I'll try and get an off-road route sorted :)

Fair enough on the numbers for the Queens Head - bit too far for me on a Wednesday night, sadly. I’ll raise a beer from afar…

Same as Elliot, I will raise a beer from afar. I've done the commute today so another 80km after work? Not this evening, I am afraid!

If the Witham Peloton is interested in a pre-planned route to meet jibbers' expectation of a half-eight eta then lookie here.

I'll ride it in reverse until I find the Peloton or a pub....
